My Aero d-1 fit questions

I got new Aero d-1 fit jacket from Thurston bros.
It seems like a good fit for me, but the sleeves look to long and feel odd. Can you guys take a look at my pics and tell me what do you think ?
How do the sleeves suppose to fit ? I don't want to make them to short , but I dont like the feeling and a sloppy look of bunched up material around the elbow.
Thanks

Looks absolutely right to me. Wanted to comment this right away, before even reading your doubts but I think you shouldn't have any. These aren't supposed to even fit. Yours look great. I wouldn't change a thing.

There are two schools of thoughts on this one.
Some will say that since it is a winter jacket, you want longer sleeves to prevent draft.
Others will prefer a regular sleeve length, winter jacket or not.

Personally i prefer sleeves to be shorter rather than longer, and i would probably remove 1" from your current length.
But saying that there isn't really a right or wrong... If they feel too long to you it should be pretty easy to have them adjusted on that kind of jacket.

Maybe inquire as to how hard it would be to adjust them, if easy enough, keep it, live with it for a winter and see if you still want to shorten them next winter.

To me, the fit is ideal. It can accommodate a thick jumper and the sleeves will keep your hands warm - if you've only just got it, there will also be a small amount of shrinkage as the sheepskin creases. The D-1 is a fantastic jacket - really flexible, with an understated cool. I swapped my ANj-4 for one and never regretted it.

Thanks guys. Well, this is just a fit jacket. I want to custom order one in the redskin , but the sleeves are very tight at the end, to prevent the draft I guess, and because they are long it is very uncomfortable :(.
The whole jacket feels a bit odd zipped, but my guess that it wasn't designed with a lot of range of movement in mind.
I was actually thinking of getting sleeves shorten by at least 2 " and add to the body length front and back about 2", it feels a bit short for me in front, maybe change pockets to the b6 kind of pockets to be usable as hand warmers

I wouldn't overdo shortening the sleeves - I'm sure Carrie at Thurston will guide your hand on that one. When you mean changing the pockets for B-6, do you mean zipless ones, or actually changing the position? If it's the former, go for it. Mine came modded with B-6 pockets and it makes them perfect as handwarmers. If you're shifting the position, I would swap to a B-6 instead as it'll just throw the jacket's proportions out.

Yeah, I'm actually on the fence about it. I was thinking on trying on b-6, Carrie said they will be getting it at some point soon, it is in production. Also, it is a next size up
I'm afraid by the time everything said and done, the winter will be over :)
Don't know what to do , sigh .....

Whooooahohoho stop right there cowboy. You bought that jacket from under me !!! I was gonna buy it and then I looked and it was gone. I have a redskin one that I’m selling because I want a seal one. It’s on the forsale forum. If your interested we can swap and I’ll pay the difference.
Let me know !

I don't think you'll make a mistake if you keep this one.

You definitely shouldn't add any more body length as this jacket is on the edge of being a bit too long as it is. It's already completely covering your pockets. 2 more inches and it'll become a coat. These jackets taper quite a bit at a bottom hem if I'm not mistaken, for the same reason the sleeve openings are narrow. Any longer and zipping it up might end up being troublesome. The jacket will start pushing upwards and ballooning at the top.

Trailsallday, where are you located ? Looking at your jacket, I'm not sure anymore that I still want redskin, I would of loved to see it and try it on in person .
Monitor, thank you for the valid points, I never thought about it that way, you are absolutely correct.
It might balloon up and ride up, it might be a bad look for this jacket. But than, I might as well go with Eastman d-1, if I'm not customizing the jacket.
If anyone tried Eastman vs Aero d-1, what do you think ?
Also, I'm attaching few more pics. Can you guys look at the sleeves ? I pushed them up where I feel the sleeves should end, but doesn't the sleeves around the elbow look to sloppy and bunched up ? Are you sure, it would shrink ?Is this the way it should look ?

I’m in Massachusetts. What don’t you like ? The color ? Maybe tHe lighting is off...I did an eastman vs aero thread awhile back with B-3 jackets . The redskin is the same color as that one if u wanna have a look.

I'd leave the length alone (or maybe come up an inch) but personally would lose 1" off the sleeves, just the way I like my shearlings to fit :-0

Trailsallday, not its not your picture, I was going through different threads, and I kind of like dark seal look more.
Still not sure what to do about sleeves, or maybe go Eastman d-1 all together

The sleeves are longer than I would like. Maybe an inch or two shorter would be better for me. Send the pics to Carrie; she will know exactly what needs to be done, if anything.

I did, this is what she have replied to me:
"The standard sleeve length on a size 42 D-1 is about 24.5 inches. The average sleeve length for our stock and custom D-1 orders is about 26.5 inches...the stock length is too short for most people, but you can get them any length you want on a custom order. "
So, I guess, I should be ok with a standard length sleeve

If you sent her the pictures and asked what she thought, the above answer isn't responsive to your question. I have never received that type of answer from either her or Wade after sending them pictures. It has always been, "Well, I think 1.5" need to come off the sleeves," or something equally specific.

Well, that's an answer that I got to my questions how the sleeves should fit on me and How long should they be ? She has my pictures an everything.
I have nothing bad to say about Carrie, as a matter of fact I have another jacket on its way to me, and will never hesitate to order anything else, but I guess it might of been an off day or she was tired of me bombarding her with bunch of questions

I don't know if they do it with this model, but I remember reading a few years ago that for their leathers from Aero Thurston spec them all at 1" longer in the body than the norm. Don't know if this is the case here? As it is, it looks spot on to me. It's an outer, Winter coat - not a 'jacket' - and cut to be worn as such.

In terms of quality and accuracy, to my eye Aero and Eastman are mored or less on a par for this model, but in truth I couldn't justify the extra money that the Eastman goes for (ELC priced me out of their market a few years ago).
