The older I get the more I like this guy, James McMurtry.

" kinda gray at the temples,
kinda goes with the hat.
kinda round at the middle,
but it ain't even that"

Rusty - Yes, he is, and unless I'm sorely mistaken, had a brief part as one of the hands in the TV miniseries "Lonesome Dove." He's most visible when Newt and the others go into town to visit some ladies of ill repute. I bought his first major album years ago, and it was pretty good. Frank

You are right Frank, I think his total speaking part consisted of "I ain't goin in there".

The boys were paying a call on "The Buffalo Heifer" and her skinny freind.

This morning I am practicing some music my buddy and I will be adding to our playlists and we are intending to play this weekend. The artists wear hats well;

Mance Liscomb. Songs - Baby Please Don't Go, Shake, and Shake, Mama.

Nice hats. Great music.

Appalachian songster Roscoe Holcomb, who just from his appearance, might be called the William S. Burroughs of the 5-string banjo.

I don't think Armstrong wore hats enough.

I love this one-- Johnny Hodges with a pretty serious cock in his hat:

And something a little different.

Jack White in the film Cold Mountain. He always seems to wear some kind of hat. Last several tv appearances I've seen he's been consistently sporting a nice black fedora, upturned brim.
