I like the first two best. I have a weakness for parades, maybe.

You can see the Kress store sign in the first pair: There is a Kress building (now used for other businesses) right up the street from where I live in downtown Columbia, SC. I had never seen that particular chain of stores until I moved here, but apparently they're pretty common.

In the Japanese Day photos, I do love the man's heavy wool coat, fedora and cig. Good stuff.

Considering that the photo was taken in San Francisco, a west coast port city, I'd say that just about all of them were interned.

You assume right, unless they were willing to uproot themselves and move to the internior of the country or they joined up with the military.
You've gotta love the census. They used that in the determination of who to round up in this area. The census guys in this area hate me because all I tell them is how many people live in my dwelling and that is it--nothing more.
Those photos are great. I love the overcoat in that Japanese Day picture as well. Quite an interesting time. Did someone finish that time machine yet? I want to take it for a spin.

I really like the rain dance picture.... you can tell when it was taken just by looking at the spectator's clothes, particularly the crowd on the right.

And I may be wrong, but the fourth horseman (to the Indian's right) seems to be carrying a Mexican flag. So you've got the Confederate flag, the state flag of Arizona, the U.S. flag, and the Mexican flag waving side-by-side. Goodness gracious!

One thing to remember is that this was 1959, before the drugged up, cry baby Marxists started stirring up hatred six years later:rage: .

This photo was basically a heritage parade. You've got the American cowboy with Old Glory, the neighbor to the south with the Mexican flag, the native son and the guy on the losing side of the Civil War.

Arizona heritage, to be more precise, as all of these flags flew over the state of Arizona at one point in its history.
