Didn’t know that. If they had speaking parts I assume the were members of SAC?
Never having worked in the industry I have no idea but I think it safe to assume so. All the movie work up here is through the various unions. If I remember correctly they chose Vancouver as Altman wanted that dark, rainy, wet appearance for the look of the film.

Depending on the movie we have several guys in our group who find it easy to be extras because of their look & expertise. For any speaking part a SAC membership is required. If you have a featured skillset you can get paid a per diem for each day filming. You can be in up to 3 scenes as a non speaking extra without a membership.

Harry Carey Sr. as Cheyenne Harry in the 1919 John Ford movie, Marked Men. His costar was Winifred Westover, the future Mrs. William S. Hart.

Can anyone guess this "Gunsmoke" guest star who went on to don an iconic hat in several classic action movies?

Both are now in the collection of William Koch.
That same '55 from American Graffiti was also in an earlier movie, "Two Lane Blacktop". I remember going to the drive-in with my girlfriend, (now my wife), and watching that movie way back in the early '70s. Warren Oates was also in that movie and drove a nice yellow '70 GTO.

Robin and the 7 Hoods (1964) is one of my favorite Rat Pack movies, which also included Bing Crosby, Peter Falk, Barbara Rush and an uncredited cameo by Edward G. Robinson. The film reimagines the Robin Hood legend in a 1920s Chicago gangster setting and is chock full of great hats. A still from a pool table scene with Sammy, Sinatra, and Martin hangs on my office hat wall.

In case you have not seen any of my posts here, I am a huge fan of the Godfather movies. I was watching the second movie this morning and saw the scene below which happens right after Vito kills Don Fanucci in 1920. Anyone know if the hat shop shown here ever existed? I could be mistaken but it appears to be called "Lasandra".
