Studs? For Studs!
I'm a working musician who owns and wears several different styles of tuxedos. We wear Dbl breasted (4 button only) for less formal events, and a Shawl collar for more formal events. I wear a vintage Midnite blue shawl collar when I want to look really well. When I play, I do not wear studs. They don't show, and would scratch my archtop guitars. I find that good (not expensive) studs really finish off a formal outfit when I'm not playing. Ebay is a good source if you are tight for money, and the only rule is that you have to like them. They do not even have to match your cuff links. Oh yes, my White Shawl collar dinner jacket draws rave reviews with good studs as well. I always wear tuxedo trousers with that as well.
