Ouch - you cannot unsee some images...

As to video method, I like setting up a tripod and strapping the camera device to it for a third person point of view. Stops the awkward movement which can make viewers feel seasick.

On the other hand, it helps to have some feedback during the filming regarding the field of view - or at least test this and adjust. I had no such method, so the field of view was much wider than expected. Might have to purchase a separate monitor for any future projects.

are we really overanalyzing 28 second one hand bash videos ?

the way they were made is the entire point

clearly my first two bash vids are on a stand ... a music stand... but a stand none the less

My comment about unseeing things involved the photo of the selfie helm cam.

The videos were not a problem - I liked them.

The rest of my comment regarding method was just passing on the little that I learned with the new GoPro. Been using it to get videos of houses and like the results best when set on a tripod and simply panned smoothly around a room or area.

Are you taking the taper out of the hat with the hat shapers block? I just got a new BGCD, my first nice hat, and I have the side dents from shipping that the guys have helped me with, and I got to thinking about your video and wondered if you are taking out the taper in the crown when you remove those creases. I don't know if its worth it for me to get one of those things but it might help get rid of those side dents and be nice to have.

Silently bashing and quite rudely shushing the poor camera woman.
Sorry mom!

It's drying over night and tomorrow it's getting ribbon & brim treatment.

In case you wanted to know this is a lightweight vintage felt for a lovely French lounge member.
Anyway, this is how the bash looks when finished.

I have no clue how to shorten them so the end is a bit weird, my apologies.

Wow!!!! Great thread. I watched all the videos about 10x's each. Haha.

My new Canpdraft is on the way and I think I'll video my first time ever bashing a hat on here. Just for kicks, plus for help on how to fix my mistakes. :)

Thanks for all the info.

Oh, do y'all have any suggestions for bashing a new CD? I believe someone said they are a little stiff?

Steam or spaying it with distilled water will soften it up so you can shape it.
