I have ALWAYS loved hats especially the fur felt fedoras!! I've been wearing fedoras, homburgs, derby's, boaters, panamas and caps for 40+ years. My peers think I am ill if I showed up without wearing a lid. I'm not trying to insult anybody's intelligence of fine hats. Do I know the details of the reselling of items, not in the least. But I do know a hat like this is now only made by handmade artisans and sells for 5 to 600 dollars. Yes the hat is used but minimally at best. Still it will only attract a true hat aficionado. In search of a high quality mint condition brown Homburg. It will be that person who'll buy this hat at a fare price whatever that may be. We'll make the exchange and bid each other adieu.

We're about 1-1/2 to 2 hours from Eugene. The southern Oregon coast is gorgeous. I used to head down there about twice a month 2005 - 2007. Mike Millers NW Hat Co is there in Eugene. I've been to visit Mike about 4 times.

Thanks very much for your input it is appreciated. As what must be obvious I am new to selling anything. I don't particularly care to get involved in the selling of things. If the hat were not in such great condition. I wouldn't even bother with all this. Just trying to find someone who may be interested in buying the hat. At a fare price for both parties.

Has anybody out there owned the Christy's Homburg? I like the flatness of the brim with the tight finger curl at brims edge. I don't know if the brim is stiff like there derby? Or if the crown is soft or stiff? I have not seen other hat makers old or new that fashion a similar style homburg.

I'm glad you brought up size and that $150 is generous. On the other hand, if it were a 1/4 or 3/8, $150 could be light, especially if it were a long oval. I'm always amazed at the price difference for smaller hats than those in my 1/4 elo size. I know most of us know this, but it's helpful to the OP.

It's pleasing to be referred to as the "OP". Were you looking down your nose as you said that? I have admitted that I am green behind the ears when it came to selling hats. I have never spent my idle time learning all the nuances to every fine details of hats. But I own and where on a daily bases some very fine hats. Some of you come off as snobs and may not be aware of it. But to those who are. Please take a long walk off a shirt dock.

We are a bunch of hat snobs, it's true I'm afraid But once you get to know people here, you will find they really are a great bunch. I for one would love to see some pictures of you wearing some of your hats in the What Hat Are You Wearing Today thread. It's a good place to get to know people here & join in some friendly banter.

I'd like to say your Borsalino really is beautiful and in mint condition too, such a shame you can't wear it yourself! And yes, there are some of us women who are interested in these hats, but it is a much smaller market, especially for homburgs I would think - I have seen quite a few women wearing fedoras, but so far I haven't come across many wearing homburgs (apart from myself). I love them, but unfortunately $350 is too steep for me (that and you are on the other end of the world, I buy my European hats nearer the source). I wish you good luck with the sale of course, and I hope you find someone who will pay you a fair price for it and who will treasure it, because it would be a shame for such a nice hat to just be gathering dust!

I am pretty sure a few members here have Christy's homburgs, someone will give you their opinion if you repost your question in the "Homburg Nation" thread or in "Ask a Question Get an Answer" (both in the Hats forum) - not everybody checks the classifieds so you are more likely to get an answer there.

OP = "original poster", commonly used in forums. I don't know why anyone would take offense to that, nor do I understand your insults considering that YOU asked about hat value. I am sorry that I tried to help.

The original post was a series of photos with no explanatory text, it was the first post by the OP. It was then edited to include the text, and a conversation started. It is more normal form to introduce oneself before trying a sale. The hat is beautiful. It has to be worth $150 if not more to someone.

in the hat forum there is a thread called 'the borsalino brotherhood', and another called 'homburg nation', whilst not sales threads as such, more hatporn in nature, if you posted the images of the hat in those threads (it's as good an example as any there) you could mention it is in the classified section too. There's so many leather jackets for sale here many apparently gave up looking.

Yes, relax and enjoy yourself. Think of this place as a friendly private club. We mingle, talk, rib each other a bit, provide support and help to enable your hat addiction. Very few posters are intentionally mean-spirited and those folks tend to leave the party in short order. Get yourself a cold beverage, take a load off, and talk hats with us.

I've been to Henry the Hatter's in Southfield and have several of his Hats. all quality and very competitivly priced...

@Sonero owns two of them, I believe. Or maybe only one... I forget. But he's posted some photos in the "What hat are you wearing today?" thread when he first received them. He commented that he really enjoys the flatter brim. I feel the same way about my homburgs -- which is currently my favorite style of hat -- flatter brims with tighter curls are better.
