I managed to win this last night. I love the band.

Listed kind of odd.

Vintage Old Fedora Indiana Jones Hunting Hat 1940's

Maybe it's a hat you wear when hunting Indiana Jones? When is Indy season, anyway? I don't know, but I like it.

That's a pretty cool ribbon on that Marathon. If you do go hunting Indy, don't try it with a sword.

The things people come up with to try to attract attention to the hats they're auctioning off can be pretty funny. My personal favorite is "spy hat," so far.

Anyway, that's a unique one for sure. I wonder if it's a snap brim or if it's meant to be downturned. The ribbon looks like oversized brim binding. Neat.

I'm pretty sure it's a snap brim that someone's just snapped down all the way around. And I guess we'll see what color the binding really is.

I've never seen a Marathon with this logo. An earlier one, maybe?

The department store brands interest me - pilgrim, marathon, etc. - but they are pretty scarce on eBay. Seems odd. You'd think there would be tons of them. Did Macy's have a brand?

Anyway, that hat has definitely gotten a lot of love (ie. dirt) over the years.

yeah, these pics are of it straight out of the box. I'm going to do a little steaming, and hit it with the hat sponge and brush.

I also like the brim and ribbon treatment. Hopefully it will clean up nicely. Is that a bluish-gray or is it just my laptop screen? Whatever it is, I like it.

fftopic: I own one Pilgrim Hat and am quite fond of it . . .
Until this thread, though, I did not realize it was a House brand for a retailer. Anyone have more info? Which retailer utilized the Pilgrim Brand? Was it made by Lee (as were Marthons for Penney's)? . . .
Just curious if there is any more info out there on this topic . . . :fedora:
