yes indeedI think that's what I'm thinking of. I think it was a darker brown, tho.
I am thinking that you are in for a treat!!!Well, I'm on the wait list for my first Gannon. Hopefully I'll have my first pure beaver around the end of the year. Now I have to finish deciding the details.
I'm just a little bit excited as the hat is underway. There is an issue with the ribbon. I would really like a 5 or 6-ply ribbon. Michael hasn't had any luck finding any (especially since it needs to match up with the whiskey colored felt.
Does anyone have any idea where to possibly find this?
True 6 ply is like looking for Yeti (I would say sasquatch but not sure how to spell it). You might consider stacking 2 - 3 ply ribbons....if so check with Tim @purebeavercustomerservice on Instagram.I'm just a little bit excited as the hat is underway. There is an issue with the ribbon. In my Lounge feed it doesn't show previous replies until after I have posted. So often I post only to discover immediately after I 'post reply' that someone has already provided the same answer. My apologies!!!You would think this would be easy to find but it isn’t. Even the common two cord western ribbon is hard to find; although, Tim (Pure Beaver Hat Supply) offers it now. If you’re set on that ribbon you might need to cannibalize a vintage hat and that will take time or luck or both.

Michael has 2-ply. Is there a such thing as 4-ply and, if so, is it any easier to find?True 6 ply is like looking for Yeti (I would say sasquatch but not sure how to spell it). You might consider stacking 2 - 3 ply ribbons....if so check with Tim @purebeavercustomerservice on Instagram.
The only ply ribbon I have come across is two ply and I picked that up from Tim @purebeaver. It is not vintage but modern manufacture.Michael has 2-ply. Is there a such thing as 4-ply and, if so, is it any easier to find?
I checked with Tim and he has 2 & 3 ply ribbon in a limited selection of colours. The only ply ribbon I have come across is two ply and I picked that up from Tim @purebeaver. It is not vintage but modern manufacture.
I agree. I much prefer distressing my own hats by wearing them.Gannon is now offering distressed hats. The denizens of Instagram seem to really like it...Can’t say I’m a fan, but to each their own.

I don't step outside my bubble that often so I was staggered to see how many of the "nick fouquet" style of hatters are out in the marketplace. Perusing Instagram there are waaaaay more of this BoHo style of hatters out there than classic fedora makers. The strange thing is I have yet to see anyone wearing one out and about. Perhaps I need to get out into the world more. There is a hatter in my city that makes this style and he runs it as livlihood charging twice what I charge and we use all the same materials (except I use vintage ribbon and he uses scrap). Kudos to Michael Gannon for turning out quality examples and understated ones as well. If he can expand his business by tapping into it...more power to him because like Picasso was a classicist painter before he ventured out into Cubism.....Michael will still know how to make a great classic fedora......no matter how much distressing he does.Gannon is now offering distressed hats.
