Not really, but I'm an engineer, so I understand effin' up!

Three surgeons are discussing their favorite kinds of patients:

Dr. #1: I like to work on librarians. When you open them up, everything is numbered by the Dewey decimal system and in order.

Dr. #2: I prefer electricians. Everything is color coded.

Dr. #3: I like to work on engineers. When you finish, if there are a few parts left over, they understand!

Terrific felt color. Being very the practical, I see the steel as being a very classy felt color that can pair with ligther or darker color attire. IMO, it can even pair with warmer toned attire depending on the ribbon. I just like the steel felt color.

GILL ribbon treatment gets a BIG YES HERE! I agree with the sentiments about gilled ribbon work. I too have asked for the gill ribbon work on previous hats. It would be magnificent on the steel in an almost matching color ribbon. The gill would add immediate eye appeal.

Chamuco your Gannon fedoras are very cool. I enjoy seeing your posts showing the frequent wearing they get. I tip my brim in your direction this evening. I can not wait to see that steel gray on your head.

Best, Eric -

Same feelings Eric,

I love to see your hats with that beautiful snowed background.

Lets see how this one end up, I think it will be another home run from Michael.

May I wish you and your loved ones a blessed New Year filled with health and love.

Best regards my friend.

Please do sir. I have entered the Gannon que with the intent of seeking a steel blue fedora. I am interested in seeing the current steel blue Gannon flock.

Steel minded today, Eric -
emailing with Michael today he made me aware of something that he is not happy with concerning the current stock of this particular color from Winchester ... and apparently their entire stock of this color has this issue

hit him up to have him explain it to you

That seems a bit coy....

Rather than cause everyone who will be curious about this to interrupt Michael's work, perhaps you could summarize?

I'd rather not speak on felt that I have not seen ... nor do I want to quote Michael without his permission

there is a problem with the stock of the color... apparently a possible problem in the dye process ?

Rodolfo may know more about it for he is dealing with it right now and may wish to speak on it

I love my steel fedora from John, but I think my felt has been in his inventory for some time. Maybe it's the most recent order that has some issues?

From Rodolfo's previous post(s) it sounded like he's aware of the issue and went forward with the order in spite of any perceived inconsistency.

Other hatters have not been happy recently with some Winchester product as well...

The steel beaver felt that Mr. Miller at Batsakes used for the fedora he made for me was ordered from Winchester in late October. From what I can tell from Rodolfo's pics, it must have been from the same stock (and, I might add, I like the color immensely). To answer Anthony's original question, I agree with Mr. Gannon's assessment that blue undertones you see in the felt are being largely influenced by the color of the ribbon.
