Every pet owner is guilty of thinking their cat, dog, etc., is the cutest thing ever (my hand is raised high right now), but since this is not my cat, but my girlfriend's mother's cat, I can make the argument that I'm objective (but I'm not at all). So with that preamble out of the way, here is Aria, the world's most adorable cat, resting a bit after a hard morning of "kittening" yesterday.

I'm so sorry, Bob. Losing a friend is hard, but there's some consolation (I hope) in the fact that he lived a long life for a cat, and knew that he was loved.

We have a barn/shop cat that could be his twin brother. He adopted us so I don't know how old he is. He's a friendly cat but will only come inside the house for very brief, occasional visits then he's back to his outside business. He does appreciate his warm bed near the workshop stove in this cold snowy weather, though.

Sorry to hear, Bob. After 19 years, that's rough.

I’m sorry for your loss, Bob. :(

So sorry to hear it, Bob. Sounds like he had a pretty good run.

Thanks everyone. Hopefully he’s with his sister working on his next nine lives on a higher plane. He’ll be missed.

You all remember Ruby... she's been hunting hidden rats in a AKC-sanctioned "Barn Hunting" competition. Basically, it's following a scent to where several rats are hidden in a pile of hay bales. She needs to find them all within a 2-minute time period.

To up her game, she's practicing in our backyard. She worked this spot for about an hour:

Moved a lot of dirt:

Unfortunately, it didn't survive the "squeaky -play-toy" test. We're overrun with these guys and their runs have torn up the yard. I told her I'd give her a chew toy for every one she caught. Now that she's got the scent (and sound) maybe she'll earn her keep.
