Looking for Top Quality vintage clothing

So when did Desmond's go the way of all things? I'm especially curious because just today my brother's widow gave me a sport jacket that she had bought for him at a vintage store quite some number of years ago. The label reads "Desmond's/Southern California/Quality Since 1862."

I'm confident it's '50s vintage, as it certainly is of that style and because it has the '49-'62 union label in the inside pocket. The size tag says it's a 41 long. Fits me pretty darned well.

I'll make the sign of the cross every time I put it on.

So when did Desmond's go the way of all things?

Desmond's went out of business in the early 1980s. By then, it was Southern California's oldest department store.
