Ok i pulled the trigger on this. A bike local to me just came up for sale. 2015 48 with 1200 miles... like brand new. Got it for 6.5k. This bike is very comfortable to me... the controls are forward (was looking for mids... so may change... but they certainly dont feel forward much.. must.have long legs). This pic is just this morning making the purchase at sellers

Congrats! Love the wheels, you don't see many HD's with spokes anymore.

300! Didn't realise they did them this big with such a classic look now. Nice colour.

Will do up to 80 MPH, and is based on a historic 6 day event 1951 Vespa racer. Colour reflects the livery of the original & the number 6 a nod to the event. Mine is a 4 stroke CVT auto 'twist n go'.

Auto is a nice easy ride. I've always wondered why it never caught on with motorcycles.

It does appear to be happening Edward,

I suppose none of us are getting any younger & a market is developing.

For me, my last two stroke Vespa wasn't fast enough for modern motorway conditions & constant clutch & the hand gear-change in snarled up city traffic started giving me 'cramp'.

I actually purchased a Yamaha 530 cc Auto Bike for long rides & enjoyed the power and CVT so much the poor classic Vespa stayed in the shed. Ended up selling both & buying the beast pictured..fast enough for me & no cramp Being a 'Rally' going scooterist it also fits in with the club better...

I think where it will really kick in will be with the electric bikes. Some very impressive options on that front so far, though to date nothing with a nice classic look (unlike scooters, where it seems popular). It'll come in time, though. I'm quite taken with the idea of a bike I could stow in a shed,with a solar panel on the roof to charge it....

Vespa are certainly going down the electric route now & I've heard tell of pending electric 'super-bikes'. On the Vespa front there are now companies that will install electric motors in classic frames...

Yes, there are a few that certainly won't scare the horses, looks-wise; once they make that look like a Royal Enfield C500, then I'm in...

I suspect it will be easier to sell to the scooter market first, as there seems to be less of the macho-performance thing there, and given that the motor has always been largely tucked out of sight on a scooter, it doesn't change the aesthetics the same. A classic-looking, electric Vespa could be a very nice town runabout too if they really clamp down on emissions.

I had a Sportster that I almost immediately put flat tracker bars on, as I'd had them on other bikes before that. My butt and back continued to thank me for the swap. Leaning forward a bit helped with keeping the weight off my butt, stopped jarring jolts directly up my spine, and fighting the wind was so much easier when leaning into it a bit.

I like the 48. It's probably the only Sportster I would purchase now. Enjoy it.

Some of us are very 'hung up' on our 'performance!! On the way back from the Woolacombe Rally I passed many a Vespa & tuned Lambretta on the M5
