Lightweight leather

Holly at Aero told me that their lightest leather is the battered steer hide.

I like goat because it can be relatively lighter, yet it drapes well and can have some decent texture and graining.

Some of the mid weight hides mentioned here are still pretty heavy if you are really after lightweight. It depends what you mean by light. My idea of light would be a jacket that weighs no more that 1.5 kilos (3.3 pounds) in a size 42. Generally that would generally be a 2 to 2.2oz hide. Mid-weight here often means 2.5oz to 3oz which to my taste is too heavy. But you may be happy with that.
