Light Blue/Gray Stetson 3X Beaver

The only dilema having so many great hats is trying to decide which one to wear. From the pics you've been posting lately I think you are in that situation.

I have to say, it has been a quite a week -- I'm looking forward to getting to know these hats!

What amazes me is that the 3X hats were supposedly the lower quality ones, but then you see so many pics of ones like this that makes you wonder if they were.

It's interesting that you say this. I am used to seeing "Whippet-esque" hats at the Royal Stetson or Royal DeLuxe Stetson levels. When I saw the auction photo -- a fedora with a wide ribbon and a wide bound edge -- I was really surprised to see that it was a 3X. I wonder how many different grades of felt were used to make these kinds of hats. Was it common that dress hats like this were made using higher grades than Royal Stetson or Royal Stetson DeLuxe? You just don't see that many (at least, I haven't), so I wonder...

I hope I didn't come across as criticising the hat or your choice - I was really just criticising myself for not having the confidence to wear those sorts of colours.

It was meant as a compliment, really, that so many of your are confident enough to wear different colours. Yes, it was definitely a compliment, albeit a twisted one. lol

That's exactly how I took it fatwoul -- and I appreciate it! My response was intended to be encouraging -- sorry if it came off differently!

I was also going to point out that the color of the hat matches my baby blues, but thought the better of it...

Really nice hat, I do like that wide bound edge a whole lot. Re the missing plastic layer from the crown.... I have in thed past habitually removed the diamond shape of clear plastiv from the lining of my breton styled caps as on those itg has a tendency to make my head sweat. Obviously on a breton it sits right next the skin, which is not thed case on a Fedora, but just maybe a previous owner did remove it for some reason along those lines? Or maybe it got left in the sun and the plastic yellowed so it was removed for cosmetic reasons?
