Levi Ruff and Ready by Aero of Scotland

One of the most impressive contemporary leather jackets I have owned. I sold my other Aeros, including my Connoley Steerhide Highwayman. The others were nice not just the correct size. I should have kept the Highwayman.

I thought it would be a Buy, Try, and Fly, but It has become a keeper.

I've had my eye on that one before. I can't say I'm a fan of the faux repair stitching, but it's still a good looking jacket. I think it's remarkably similar to the Aero Bootlegger, for what it's worth. Nice pickup.

I like it a lot. While it resembles the Bootlegger to a certain point, the details really set it apart. Those different lapels, the collar, the button cuffs and the curved zip and the front drop give it a very smart look and work so well together.. This jacket shows why Levi's got as big a company as they are today, their designers are good, like really really good. This jacket oozes quality. Designed by Levi's, executed by Aero, one of the best combinations I can imagine actually.

The fake repairs are not my thing either, but I didn't even notice them until I looked at the close ups, so I wouldnt mind them I guess. They toned them right to not to be too prominent.

Best of all, it fits you perfectly! Definitely no Buy Try Fly, both from a collectors perspective as well as from a wearer's one. I guess once you get past a certain number of equally charming jackets, it's hard to decide which one to keep and which one to let go of, but I feel there's plenty of good reasons to keep this one!

Hey, I know this jacket! It was on the 'bay for a while, would always make a stop at it.
Love it, but I remember thinking how the pocket and the shoulder "repair" reminded me of mold. Green thread was a questionable choice but maybe that's what they were going for? Nothing speaks vintage more than a little fungi here and there.
It's a really sweet jacket in every regard and it fits you perfectly, man! What's the leather on this one, FQHH? Looks like it.

I had seen these on ebay, but never looked closely until I bought this one. I got such a good deal I thought it would bring back some cash reward. Then I started falling for it. I thought it would be sorta of a gimmick, but it just isn't. The "fake" repairs I don't notice. I like the effort to take down the shine of new.

I don't know much more about this run other than what I said in the Vid.

What year were these made?
Who is JL who made this?
I read the leather is Cowhide not HH. Anyone know?

I'm not sure about the standard Aero line up, but this one is a perfect fit for me. It feels like Vintage when you wear it. This is an Aero to keep.

Who is JL who made this?

JL may be Julie Leitch(spelling), one of their best machinists, if not the best (Ken's words) who also did the Cap America jackets for the movie.

I have one of these which I got on evilbay a couple of years after production. I think they were made sometime around 2002-4. Mine is the non-distressed version which came with a painting on the back. Actually, they were slightly distressed, but only just enough to avoid looking new. The painting I easily cleaned off with acetone. It's a great jacket and IMO pips the bootlegger. Although Levi marketed it as a "50s" jacket (probably to tap into the rockabilly market) it is a copy of a 1930s jacket in their archives. The leather is FQHH not cow. I occassionally think of selling it to finance other things but somehow it seems to stick around.....
