Levi’s Cossack Jacket- recommended?

As a recent convert to different cuts of leather jackets, I’ve stumbled upon the Levi’s Cossack. In particular, this one on eBay (image attached).

From the previous posts, it seems like some people are saying to save the money and go for a Mister Freedom instead?

Does anyone have any more info about the Levi’s Cossack? Is this one authentic (that is, an LVC repro; the images don’t show an LVC like tag that a previous post on this thread showed)

I’d go for a P620H from Schott before I’d spend $700+ on a (second hand) Levi’s.

Thank you for the reply and for the suggestion! I often develop an issue where I become brand loyal (in this case, Levi’s and their LVC collection) and often forget about other brand available.

I visited the Schott’s store here in San Francisco and tried a jacket on and they were quite huge on me (even though I tried on a 36).

Would older models be more form fitting?

I’m interested in a Cossack style with the lower pockets and shawl collar (not a deal breaker) in a light brown or brown color.

Thanks!

On that note, does Levi’s just not make quality leather goods “nowadays”? The lone Levi’s leather I own is supposedly from the 70s, so I’m sure manufacturing, raw materials, etc have changed

I own a Schott 100 trucker, and a friend of mine has a Levi’s leather trucker. While both look very similar, the leather and construction on the Schott are much nicer and higher quality.

I can’t speak to the fit of a Cossack style, as I’ve never tried one.

My Schott trucker fits true to size, and is super comfortable. Out of all of my jackets, I wear this one the most.
I’m 6’, 183lbs with a 42” chest—and I wear a size large (this is also what the Schott fit guide puts me in for this style of jacket).

Thank you for the rec. I was doing a search on the forums here and saw an overwhelming amount of positive reviews about the MF jacket, but one or two reviews stating that the buttons didn’t fit into the slots, etc.
I wonder if there’s a way to try one on first!

For $ 700, there are many interesting things in the world of leather jackets, especially in the secondary market

I own both the Campus and the Ringo. I like the Campus because of its design and it is also the only jacket I have in a natural hide. The pocket placement is next to useless though so they are only for show.
Overall I prefer the Ringo, it is an awesome jacket with no complaints.

If you buy it new, you can try it out and return it etc.

I used to have a Levis Menlo Cossack. It’s a nice jacket, and after many jackets I realize it looked better than most. Mine was made in Italy, but the hide was flimsy and a boring brown. If you like the style the early ones in goat are the best.
For the money, I feel you would do much better looking into a Thedi on the used market. His are better made and have great hides.

That is very fair! 700 is no small sum; might as well keep the search going

I’ve had my eye on the ranch blouse ever since I became aware of its existence (which, admittedly, hasn’t been that long)! I’m very new to this side of the fashion world (the brands and companies), but yeah, I want it!

Was looking at the Levi’s Cossack (in particular, the one I had linked via eBay) during to the color and the measurements (Which on paper seems ideal), but good to be reminded that MF exists

Very good to know about goat leather! I just looked around the Thedi website- are they all custom
Made?
