Rockford is a venerable old brand and rare to find. That is a nice looking watch and movement.

Not vintage in date but definately in style my 2010 Sekonda quartz, obviously stylede after Brietling etc;

All the small dials work as does the inner bezel for working out distance/ fuel consupmtion etc...the strap is a replacement as I didn't like the original too much.

definately vintage this time my 1968 Omega Constellation in 14K, this keeps wonderful time, I saved it from the father in law as he was gonna scrap it last year in the 'gold rush' the shop offered him a paltry £300! as it 'needed' a service!!!

1945 Elgin

1945 Elgin 16 size 17 jewel... Ran really well until I dropped it about a month ago. I need to tear it down but I'm pretty sure I've broken the balance staff...

One of my vintage wristwatches, late 1940's, not original band. I seem to be more attracted to larger case size in wristwatches, and this is a large watch.

I was sort of set back about buying this watch as it was made in Hong Kong, but has some very different functions then my other vintage watches. It had some issues right after I purchased it but I have it fixed and serviced and it is running nicely.

Finally arrived!

Received a pickup notice from the post office the other day for a certain parcel that I'd been expecting from the Ukraine. And here it is.

Poljot Sturmanskie Aviator, circa 1988. Utilizes a Poljot 3133 movement, a Russian version of the Valjoux 7733 movement found in many chronographs from the '60s and '70s including Elgin and Breitling. Had to post a pic of it that's actually in my hands.

I was looking at a watch like that on the eBay, and as you had already explained to me about some of the quality of Russian made watches, I have my Wife looking to find me something nice. As you made me aware that some of the Russian wristwatches had very similar quality of Rolex, I look forward to finding a good bargain on one or two of them.

That watch you have is very nice.

The Soviet/Russian 3133 chronographs first came out in 1976 and until 1983 were made only for the Soviet military. Mine is an actual VVS (Soviet air force) issue Sturmanskie made in 1988. This version was introduced in 1986 replacing an earlier, plainer version that came out in 1977 for the air force -- The very first 3133 was the highly collectible* Okean (Ocean) model that was produced for the Soviet Navy. They (both the Okean and the Sturmanskie) were originally awarded to the pilots upon completion of flight training.

*Warning: There's lots of fakes and franken versions of the Okean out there

I am sorry but I cannot let this go unchallenged. There are some fine old Russian watches out there, and some are highly collectible. But to compare them with Rolex in terms of quality is a step (or several) too far.

I think that the market value (from the same period) of those respective makers reflect fairly accurately the difference.

Of course, they will both give the time (not with the same consistency, though )

Apologies for the O/T subject matter, but I'd seen a few comments from folks wanting, but not being able to justify the cost of, a Navitimer.

This is an English Rotary Chronospeed, and if you can tolerate a Quartz movement, you will see new ones on eBay for around GBP$60

Quartz, but fully functional, waterproof and the same size as the Brietling. Just saying.

Very nice Elgin,

Here's my Bulova A-11 just back from restoration. New Crystal, NOS dial, and replaced second and minute hands. This is the Sterling silver version from 1943. Original band which is still wearable.
