Let's see your 2021 Halloween costume

My favorite holiday, gotta make my own costume, and it's gotta be scary / gory .
Kids must face their fears and earn their candy.

This year I went with a cowboy that was killed by an Indian.
I tried to go as accurate as I could with what I had and without breaking the bank in case I get a repeat of last year where I didn't even see a single kid.


Some suspenders and a wool hat off Ebay ( probably more of a fedora, but it'll do )
An old mandarin collar shirt I had laying around, some old pants I removed the belt loops off of.
The old work boots aren't accurate, but I figured they were a round toe so they're good enough.

For the blood I made it using clear Elmer's glue so it still looks wet when dry.

Just to add some Halloween content, heres the last 3 years.
You will see some things that got reused over the years, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
I've made a lot of Halloween memories with the old wolverine work gloves and my m65.

I sure wish I still had that wool Jac shirt but it tore so I used for Halloween that year then tossed it , I think it was an old JC penny's brand of some sort.

Great stuff. Alas, Halloween is likely to be a bust for us this year. The wife is on the 'vulnerable' list for Covid, so we're still very cautious about going out. American-style trick or treat hasn't become popular in our area (plus we live in a flat), so we'll have no callers. Some year, maybe when we move house, we'll make more of a thing of it and decorate... I love Halloween; grew up with it in Ireland in the 70s and 80s when it was still the largely uncommercialised, old-style folk festival it originated as. Some years it was marke,d some not: for church-going families, year to year it very much went in and out of fashion to denounce Halloween as 'the devil's work'.

Last costume I did which fit the horror theme was actually for my Club's Christmas party in 2019, under the theme "I wanna be Evil". I went as Mr Hyde (alas, no photos survive of the "potion bottle" I carried all night...

For about a decade, London had an annual World Zombie Day event in the run up to Halloween, which I was involved in from the off, and when the now wife came on the scene, she got the bug too:

We were teachers one year, medics another.

This was the year we went as Edward and Tubbs from League of Gentlemen, but as zombies. Getting our noses upturned was the most challenging bit!

We also wore those costumes the night before, at a friend's horror-themed wedding reception.

Hopefully in 2022 we'll get a chance to get out there and do something interesting. I still have my Baseball Furies uniform in the cupboard from 2008; I've also always fancied a go at doing Michael Myers - or Jason Vorhees, complete with under-mask face. The Elephant Man is a local character where I live in London, so that's also one I want to do some time...

I used to do that kind of costume every year, but the spirit gum always makes my nose itch and I've had trouble getting " nose wax " as they call it to stick.
As a kid / teenager my grandmother used to help me with the makeup because we both love Halloween.
She lives about an hour away now though and I'm not good at that stuff myself.

I remember one year when I was about 7 I was supposed to be Dracula but my dad messed up on the peak so he painted my whole face black.
It wasn't till I got home that I realized it and why everybody thought I was batman.
Needless to say I was pretty upset with him.

Thanks, yes.... In most of those shots there's a black layer of make-up followed by several layers of green... and then the blood.... Funny thing, the sunken-in eyes and cheeks are basically my old Riff Raff make-up in different colours, heh. Took about forty minutes to get it on (a little more for the syringe, to build up the layers of Copydex and Weetabix to hold it in place when stuck to my head). The really tricky bit was getting it all off afterwards.....

Those are great. The 'Real Ghostbusters' is an especially cute idea, only ever seen film costumes before!

Great idea for a thread! I sadly have no contributions as of yet, although I can imagine around these parts a Good Wear or Field Leathers with cracked leather all over and a sleeve half torn-off would pass as the scariest costume of the year...

Scrounged up a pirate costume.

Bought an old leather kidney belt to hang a sword from but the connection belt tongues are dry rotted…want to get 1 or 2 good pieces a year to build up a good costume trove

I really admire your cool zombie costumes! Personally, I have never had the desire or the experience to make my own costume. Although I actually have a lot of ideas for Halloween costumes. Perhaps you can advise me an interesting guide or perhaps a professional makeup artist? I believe that it's never too late to learn something new, or am I wrong? Moreover, in two weeks I'm going to go to an incredibly cool costume party, so I definitely need to make a cool costume. As a last resort, if nothing works out, I'll just buy pajamas through the service as https://dragon-vibe.com/. Or I'll just stay at home.

Definitely plenty scary.

Boy you really like to jump the gun on Christmas don't you ?
Personally I say it's the 12 days of Christmas not 3 months, as the stores seem to think it is.
I get it, but the really christmassy stuff never really did much for me.
The classic Christmas music never did much either, I guess that has to do with people assuming I must like rockin' around the Christmas tree just because I'm related to Brenda Lee.

Thankfully there's a good choice of Halloween themed parties at pubs, clubs and other venues this year, how lockdown prevented such fun. This year we are off to a couple we know who have sunk their savings into a country pub/diner with a number of rooms offering bed & breakfast.
Many will go the extra mile and turn up in a costume like a Zombie, Witch, Spook or name your ghost.
All I do is arrive in a shirt that Tina made and all the phones and cameras go click crazy.

A lot of my costumes involve USGI gear my dad handed down to me.

I can't remember the last time I didn't wear the RO-Search boots, and there has been a number of other years that I wore this GI trench coat.
The liner no longer fits in the arms so I don't really wear it anymore but I'll probably never get rid of it.
The " hood " is actually a storage
sack a motorcycle helmet came in.

I haven't decided yet if I'm going to sit outside and scare kids or not, but just answering the door this costume should be scary enough.
