I didn't realize Schotts are made in Elizabeth, NJ., which is where I was born and grew up. It's also where "The Sopranos" and "Jersey Boys" were shot. Ever since I saw certain anti-Aero comments on their website I've had negative feelings about them. Should I reconsider now?

Were those comments from the company or from a third party? I wouldn't necessarily blame the company for the actions of a third party...

(As to the jackets, I find Aeros uniformly better than the Schotts, but there's also a notable price difference, so... [huh]).

Anti-Aero? Where? There's a jab at Aero at the Lost Worlds website, but I don't think I've ever read anything like that coming from Schott. Although, I do recall someone complaining about Aero in the jacket review section...

I have a Schott cafe racer. it's very well made and I can't fault it. I actually prefer wearing it to the Aero half-belt I had. Are they a lesser product than Aero? I think the better question is, what's not to like about Schott?

I like my Schott Perfecto a lot. I also get a lot of mileage from my Wested Raiders. Different levels than the Aeros, but they all have their place.

Stuart's LW site is basically a long political diatribe with oblique potshots at all other companies, not to mention his target market! Shame, as he does really nice jackets that should speak for themselves. Still, it's obviously not off-putting to enough folks to keep him in business, so.

Those are beautiful^.

How does the Trojan fit when worn? (no jokes please). It looks boxier than the other LW moto jackets.

It's the first review under the 689H jacket. I still think it's a bit shoddy on their part to leave such comments on their website. It's been there for quite a while.

Spot on. I got rid of many jacket of all brands and quality over the years but my schotts stay and gets the most wear. They are comfortable, utilitarian and look great no matter how you dress.

Reading this, I cannot help but wonder that the reviewer may be having a grudge against this place as well... 689H is a fantastic jacket, though and for me, personally, the finest of its kind.

because i'm short 5'7 the trojan fits great but it's a short back jacket 24" to begin with whereas the buco is longer than the trojan so i had it made in a 46s vs 44r for the trojan. my langlitz are custom made so there is no size they make them from a measurement form that they mail you

Thank you. I get the impression the Trojan is best kept short, though I wonder how it would look a little longer (I'm 6'2"). I might take a gamble on a steer Lost Worlds in the future, as I love their designs, but I'm not sure I want to risk running into fit problems when I know a Johnson Leathers fits me on the money.

Yeah it seems he was a member here. Do you have a 689H?

Tried it on a couple of times, Outlaw, but couldn't afford it. Not at the time. I do plan on buying one as soon as my financial situation gets better.

I just posted this over at vintage leather jackets, and want to share with everyone here, but I don't want to open another thread, so I found this thread, it's fairly relevant and may help the original poster

I believe there is a thread either on this forum or the lounge with the same title, but I can't find it. So here it is again. I am posting because I have interested new insight from an ebay enthusiast, who doesn't participate on forums, but I thought it's interesting so I'm sharing here.

It is a given that the maker of the Brando movie jacket is unknown, Schott claims it's theirs but in fact, it is debatable.

The friend on ebay gave an extensive list of "abberations" that lead him to believe it is made by a Florida police uniform company called Lavigne, although I could not find anything leather related to this name except the pop singer from Canada. I watched the movie again and verified what he said that
1. the lining has been removed on the movie jacket, in the scenes where Brando had the jacket open, you can indeed see the white pocket showing.
2. the Scoville paper clip front zipper, I also have never seen a Schott, from their 100th year book or in life, featuring this zipper
3. the cuff zipper, it's long and situated on the side, not on the underside
4. the shape of the kidney panel, it's a straight hem with an invertedly curved upper edge, Perfectos have always been a slightly dipped lower edge
5. the lapel, too broad, too long, wind flap too wide, and fold at a mid-torso position instead of the narrow wind flap and small triangle lapel on the top, best illustration is the Ramone's jackets, say, compared to the Terminator lapel or the Langlitz lapel
6. the male snap used to snap the lapels to, the movie jacket uses a ring/pole snap, whereas 99% Schott jacket use two-prong snap. I only see the more common pole snap on a prototype jacket, Schott has the machine that can apply the two-prong so there is no reason to switch for the movie sake.
7. the two belt loops, too wide, and they are folded on both sides, but the Perfectos are narrow belt loop, fold in half in the middle.
