I once heard Ed Hardy describe tattoos as psychic armor and I thought it might make for interesting discussion. How does your leather make you feel and do you feel differently either without it or in different styles? For my fellow tattooed folks, same question.
I do feel differently (more authentically me perhaps) when I've got some ink showing. They're mostly hidden in winter and even I don't see that much of it; always makes me smile when I catch a glimpse. In a similar vein, beyond the tactile and olfactory pleasures of leather, I feel it projects a certain level of self confidence/certainty of self. I'd go as far as to describe my leather as my winter tattoos. I've also been in situations where both leather and tattoos have made me slightly self-conscious. So much for psychic armor : )
