If you want a larger size, let me hammer out the prices for the production model and I'll make it happen.

That's good to hear - there seems to be a sizable population of 7-3/4 heads on the lounge. What brim width is that on the prototype? It's been my observation that light-colored hats appear bigger, so work well with more modest brim dimensions than on a dark hat. This is my sly way of saying (again) that the Laureate would be great in a 2-1/4" brim (no harm in trying, right? ;) ).

Seriously, though, it's your design, and I'm curious what brim width you're aiming for.

I tweaked the design a bit, went with a block that's straighter and a little bit higher, a sweatband that is a bit deeper and for this hat, darker like those I find in late 20s early 30s hats. It's more of a copy of that bone colored hat that I had pinched on the Queen Mary in 2005. I just needed to have my favorite hat back, and here it is.

I have a pretty large collection of men’s hats that were produced within the last 100 years, and most of them are from the 1930s and 40s, back in what I consider the heyday of headwear. Because I’m into the 1930s man about town aesthetic, I tend to go for hats that have a sense of proportion that was common in that era, brim not too wide, crown not too low; I’ve loved this balance so much with my wears that I have hunted down those vintage hats to keep me happy and covered when it rains. Or when I need to keep the sun off my face. Unfortunately there is a lack of this type of hat in this era unless you go custom. Yes, there are lots of hats on the market today. Hats that look like they go with many things, yet there are few, to my eye, that look as good with a well tailored 1930s style suit. That’s why I’m releasing one onto today’s market. I hope you enjoy it.

A hat that's not a great repro, but a companion that is the real thing made today.

It’s available for pre order now from Matt Deckard Apparel.

Very, very nice looking hat. You left out one important detail though, it's price :) What is the cost for this model and will it be offered in any other colors?

I remember well the hat that this one is based on. I hope the thief went on to the prison life they deserved. It was a stunning hat and Matt was deservedly proud to show it off. I've written about that hat before.
This is a very fine copy. I'm sure there are no other colors; this is the color this hat wants to be. Another color would spoil the aesthetic this hat brings to life.
There are few hats anymore that I really covet, even though my collection is quite small (and about to get smaller). But this is one that makes my tight budget especially hard to bear.
I like the final name. Perfect. I'd either rename this thread or break out a new one.

Matt's site says that the price is $225 with $14 extra for the shipping.

I'll also be very interested to learn the time-frame for this project.

Kabuto, Matt had told me late January or February.

Everything seems to take longer than expected so I'm thinking Feb/March timeframe.

And to be fair, Matt's site says the hat is available to pre-order, doesn't mention when he can make deliveries.
