Langlitz Skookum Cascade...

Gday Boys,
After changing my mind onjacket model, and then changing all the options on it many times. I finally nailed what I wanted down. This actually arrived last week but I've been interstate.
It is a Skookum Cascade. It's in the vintage line on the Japanese site. I really dig it. I couldn't decide on one of their many Browns, or a classic black. Then I found the Butterscotch goat.....I thought it's a reasonably retro design, narrower, pointier collar etc.
So, I doubled up on the retro and went butterscotch, detach "paint roller " collar, contrast tan stitching, which doesn't actually pop as much as I thought. I know the colour etc isn't for everyone. I rarely wear black jackets, and this to me is a bit unique without being way over the top. I also think it will age really well. Quite simply, I love it.
I have had a few hours sleep since driving over 13 hours in one hit last night. I just wanted to post a couple of pics. I will go into much more detail tonight.

Glad to see it finally arrived! First, if you had just written that it was Butterscotch, without pictures, I would have said "no man, just no." But seeing the pictures, that is absolutely stunning. When I zoom in on the pictures, the leather looks like something on a $5000 fashion jacket, but knowing that it's a bulletproof Langlitz makes it even more special. It should really develop beautifully. Can't wait to hear and see more once you've gotten some rest. No hyperbole, this is one of the most gorgeous, special, motorcycle jackets we've seen on here, IMO. It's a great piece of history to boot.

Not the best pics. my brother isn't the most accommodating bloke when he thinks his little brother is behaving like a catwalk diva...theres every chance I need a shower and a shave...did a 26 hour road trip and got home yesterday or whenever I posted the initial pics.
Anyway they will give you a general idea of fit. I think it might be a little baggy around the torso. My weight fluctuates a bit, and I'm concerned because I'm currently pretty heavy, so when I go back to normal it will be bigger again. The sleeves are too long. They are made for riding in, and I do have apes. The problem is, I requested them shorter to wear casually. I thought the retro look would be wearable away from the bike. I wouldn't wear a black mc down the pub, I don't know why, it's just not my thing.
So, the sleeves are a concern, even with some shrinkage, will be longish. We chopped and changed front and back length several times. I don't have the best build for a short cut riding jacket, so I measured just over my jeans belt. It was really important to me that it covered my belt. The rear looks ok. These are not standard lengths that they reccomend for this jacket, so it was all a bit of a gamble. Sleeves and slightly oversized torso aside, I really like it. The zip is a decent sized Talon. Aero should use these on their mc jackets, as I've just about had a gutful of fiddling around trying to do up a FQHH mc jacket with a zip that belongs on a pair of lightweight golf shorts. It's mixed hardware with nickel snaps, being that I requested all brass, I will be asking why this happened next week. It looks cool, brass zips, silver snaps, as far as I knew, we're doing all brass.....I also have the little stash pocket in the armpit, an internal pocket, and I went for leather lined pockets which I love. I also got a snap put on the front below the zipper which I think is a good functional move. All this aside, Im really happy with it. I'm stoked I had the guts to go butterscotch, as I think it really suits the design. I love brown jackets, but they don't have a more natural looking brown like the FQHH cxl, which I love, or even a cordovan would be great.

Gday mate, it might be a bit small, you could be right....I nearly deleted it all together to make the jacket cleaner. The one in the picture on japanese website is longer. I'm not sure why this is a smaller pocket? I don't recall changing it, but I did tell them several times that I have never in my life used the chest pockets for anything at all...

Hmmmm, in one pic the sleeves look too long, and in the final pic they look pretty good. (zipped up in the last one?)

In the final picture at the bottom the fit looks fantastic, but as we all know, it really comes down to how you feel when you're wearing the jacket. Interesting that the hardware is mixed. I do know that it was traditional to mix hardware often on moto jackets, but don't know anything about Langlitz's history in doing so. Looking forward to your thoughts about the leather, construction, etc...

It's not a deal breaker for me re sleeve length. It will reduce a bit with wear. All in all I'm happy. One thing I noticed straight away was how comfortable it was straight away. It's very supple, with a bit of weight to it.

That's a good description and I had the same thoughts, supple but substantial. And the goat on mine, while being supple, has sort of a "hard" surface to it, like it would resist scratching and marks.

Hey Man,

Wear it and you will be surprised at how those sleeves change. I think goat tends to adjust better than horse too. They will be perfect on the bike and my bet is they will get a bit shorter for regular wear. Uh I am thinking you need to stay away from red wine though.

That jacket is gorgeous though and the color is just way cool.

I ended up sending it back for a few tweaks. The sleeves were just too long. The grips on my bike were actually tucking into the sleeve, not the safest way to ride. I could also bunch a fair bit of hide up in my hand, so it's getting taken in an inch each side. Nothing too drastic, just make it a bit trimmer. I love it, and it was hard to actually put it in the post.....

the color is great, with black pants or white pants you would be an instant model, with olive pants then you'll be ready for futuristic WW3 (all in the good way).

Hi mate, just soft straight out of the box. It's pretty thick and reasonably substantial. Just heavy and soft. The pics looked OK wearing it. But I could actually scrunch a whole handful..the sleeves were too long. They made it that way as I'm putting ape hangers on the bike later this year. But I also said several times I want to wear it casually, and I wear gloves on the bike anyway.

Dreadful quality photos, but you get the idea. I'm suprised how good it actually looked on. I could fit a thick hoody underneath and still had too much room. Upside down pics. They came out upside down first time, so I went and flipped them in my photo library they have came out upside down again. Sorry guys.
