The hunt for authentic boots

I'm looking for lace-up Amelia Earhart style boots (or riding boots) sans zip for over a year now.

I cannot get a photo of these burberry boots loaded. They are ridiculously expensive, but look like a replica of Patton boots and are really about what I want as I have yet to find any lace-up boots without a zipper.

How about these Stempunk boots by Penangalens. I have loads of boots form this company- they are all handmade and they are willing to be acomodating- they are'nt too expensive either. i got some 'little red riding hood' boots made for me.

fftopic: I rode through some of the Sahara desert on a camel- just like me, the smallest in the group, to get the biggest , nastiest and most aggressive camel! It was the only one wearing a muzzle lol

Moved Post - Ladies' Adventure gear

I had posted this in the general safari thread, but some seemed to think it would fit better here, so I hope you don't mind the intrusion of a gentleman into the ladies powder room... (I promise I won't peek!)

What would you gentlemen recommend to a lady as a "starter set"? Exploring the wilds sounds very appealing, but none of my still-slim vintage collection is that rugged and somehow safari in nylon this and synthetic mumbo-jumbo that just doesn't have the same cachet.

Should I take this to the Powder Room?

Don't misunderstand me - I believe in equality with men and women, my views are strictly on the "historical value" when I say that - although many like the "Tom-boy" look of wearing men's clothes, some other (possibly more "lady-like") options might include:

Resurrecting this thread to ask the lady adventurer cyclists out there how they deal with bike helmets and hairstyles.
I've done quite a bit of cycling in the past (including racing penny farthings, but that's another story) but only recently getting back in the saddle, so to speak. I plan on riding to work which means I need to look relatively respectable when I get there. Hairstyle ideas, currently hair is cut in a middy which I wear in loose curls.

I don't ride bikes but I do ride horses occasionally and the helmets are quite similar. The best solution I found so far was to keep the hair pin curled with bobby pins and covered with a thin scarf. Wear helmet on top of that, then style upon arrival. No great ideas for the way home though ...
