I don't wear cologne that often but the only times I've ever been asked what I'm wearing it has been when I was wearing Old Spice. It happened twice and each time the ladies seemed incredulous. Probably because of the associations with their fathers or other old men.
anything forest-y, A&F Eternity and Cassini for men, 273 for men isn't bad, axe has some nice-smelling stuff. av fuel and jet fuel don't hurt my feelings
I used Old Spice and Canoe when I started shaving in the mid-to-late '70s because thats what my dad used.
Many years ago I discovered J.Pinaud's Clubman and Ive been using it exclusively since. My fiancee loves it and thats all that really matters. She told me that was one of the things that attracted her to me when we met.
My dad's one of those babyboomer's who's against all that smelly stuff, stuff in your hair, etc. so I have no father associations to either. I suppose my grandfathers would've worn things like that but I didn't really know them and if I had associated it with their generation of men, I wouldn't have minded.
Hub says one of his older sisters bought him Old Spice as a joke when he was a teenager so that put him off it. He stored it for many years after and moved it with him three times. My sons used to try a dab of it every few times they bathed (not regularly because that's not good for the young ones) so I know I like the scent and can't understand why hub prefers Axe, Eternity, Between Sheets, Hilfiger, etc. over Old Spice. Of course as a 42 y.o. he's worn Kouros at some point in his life. Actually, of the mentioned contemporaries I prefer Van Gils Between Sheets if I must choose.
In 2008 when we visited London I talked hub in to buying a bottle of Aramis at Billund airport. He wore it for a while in the winter of 08 but hasn't really touched it since. Not sure if he doesn't like it or if someone said something at work. *That threatening glare*. I'll ask him and remind him that he may soon need to use it up.
Not having any knowledge of men's fragrances outside of what hub uses, I've no knowledge of which other fragrances I'd like on hub. I know I like woodsy fragrances and some amber. Actually...I like the ambery fragrances for myself.
Someone I recently was close to wears Royall Mandarin by Royall Fragrances. I really like it as it is very subtle yet manly. He sprayed it on my clothes before I left after my holiday. My jacket still smells of it and reminds me of him.
OK, I looked, and didn't see one like this...
I know what I like, and I see what other guys like. But what do the women like on men?
To me, that's at least as important to know!
Ladies???
Depend on the lady, I should say. Though the ones I prefer on my darling all have ambergris in them. I read recently that the sexiest scents for men are vailla and other foody scents while women react to ambergris that way...
For me, it's less the specific scent an more of the amount. Too many guys (and gals for that matter) douse on the colognes and perfumes.
Nothing worse then meeting a fella and having your eyes start to water! *yucky**yucky*
I agree with Isis as every woman is going to have her own preference, scent wise. Is this a general question or does it pertain to a certain special lady in particular???
