Bummer about that pesky bosom.
I went to a couple art openings, and now sitting on a settee with cats and old books, eating a cupcake & drinking Cuba rum.

Well I have a beef and vegetables in the range, cooking for dinner and as there is nothing on the tv this evening we will listen FM or watch a DVD. I am in the feelings for movie black so either the green dahlia or lady on the run.

Curled up on the couch while the little one practices her reading. Laundry is on and in a bit I'm going to go set my hair. Exciting times at my house...

Haha I envy you Lenore! I'd much rather be doing my laundry than writing a 20 page essay for school which has been consuming my evenings for the past week now. Life just doesn't get more exciting than that :p

Watching Gentlemen Prefer Blondes... again. Much to my husband's chagrin I could watch this nightly for the rest of my life.

Retronista: As much as I would love to, it's just not in the financial stars... Unfortunately, I made some bad decisions when I left high school, and now I'm kind of stuck. But I have my husband and my daughter (and the cat...) so I wouldn't trade it for the world. Would be nice to go though. I've got a fabulous pipe dream of a career change and making boatloads of more money than I do now. Too bad I'd have to lose so much money in the process of getting there!

I've just spent several hours trying to create a Fair Isle knitting chart in Excel based on a 1940s knitting pattern as described here. Traditional Scandinavian and Shetland designs were shown as charts on grids, but for some strange reason many British patterns from the 1940s only list the color changes verbally (knit one red, two white, two red, one white, etc etc etc). I spent several hours on this and it didn't come out right, so it's time to put it away for the evening.

This is the patten I'm trying to chart. It looks pretty simple, but trying to recreate it from verbal directions has completely scrambled my brains.

I am going to spend tonight with a glass of wine and a bunch of books on Victorian India, making research notes for my novel from the comfort of my rocking chair, while some 20s and 30s music play in the background.

Hubby is down with a horrible cold/flu/pneumonia/I don't even know what. So I'm next to him on the laptop (giggling at his medicine-induced snoring :p) and watching "I Love Lucy" from our collection. And it's utterly pouring outside! So much for sunny Southern California weather!

Back from the LONG(est) break.
So... tonight? No plans - yet.
But, last night, I was at a book promo. As it was madly windy outside, I knew: if I don't pop-up, there'll be no quorum (ehmm.. "quorum" being: *cough.. seven of us book-enthusiast).
Shame no one else EVER comes to these things, there's music (this time we had the pleasure to enjoy the old Russian serenades with nothing but a single acoustic guitar and a marvelous voice) . The book is about the words. Weird, no? To be honest, it was about OLD words, that are slowly fading away from our (that is: my) language.. mostly about the words from my region.. But, being old-fashioned girl myself.. I have to admit: most of the words from the book.. well, I still use them daily. (I know, mom.. I'm never gonna be "modern girl".
BEST thing happened at the very end:
We ALL got a book for free.. signed.
Great author, heart-warming subject, pleasant music (yours truly almost dropped a tear).. and a free book..
I call that: one good evening. :thumb:

olive bleu,
I hear you!
(to be honest: I've spent last evening re-writing the Inventory list.. since YES, we still have "inventory committee" where I live and YES, I'm the youngest member, hence it's my treacherous duty to write and re-write the Inventory.. every chair, every staple-gun.. in every government-owned building in our lovely municipalities)

Lenore,
Well, dear.. what to say, but: ENJOY your evening. :eyebrows:

For me, tonight is concert-night. :violin: Evergreen, international ballads.. (yes, I'm going on my own). Later on, I might get me some beer with those "we're too cool for good music" folks I call my besties.

Tonight... I'm watching The Thin Man and looking for a new job to make me happy. Something where I'm not wearing jeans and tennis shoes and dealing with people that smell funny.. [huh]

I'm fibbing.. I'm looking for a wardrobe for this imaginary future job. ;)
