This would be a great hat to find. Anyone have any luck turning one up?

I actually found a very similar hat in black at the flea market a couple of months ago. Snapped it up for $5 too. Here's a couple of pics sorry it's on a flower ball, I don't have a proper hat mannequin!

Ooh, that's a truly lovely hat!!

I'd be interested to know if anyone has ever come up with a copy of these hats. I'll be going to Paris, Nice and Monoco in November and the weather will most probably be a bit rainy in Paris. I was planning on bringing my Burberry trench coat and was thinking of bringing a female fedora for protecting my head against a possible wet wind. If anyone has come across a seller of these hats please do speak up. I'm not leaving until November, but it's good to plan these things in advance...

I'm pretty sure you can take a Fedora to a competent hatter take out the inside sweatband steam it up pull the brim out which in turn will shorten the crown block the top round ad a piece of ribbon to the inside as a sweatband (per historic accuracy) and outfit the crown with a ribbon as you please.

I have a stack of ladies 30's and 40's hats and a few look like tghe ones pictured. Hard to find the fur felt ones though the woolly ones are common.
I mytself like Marion's hat in Raiders... Though i like Indy's as well.

And thus turning a men's hat into a Ladies hat? (just making sure I understand). That's an intriguing idea...I'd never even thought of that. I wonder if we have said competent hatter in the nashville area.....off to google!

40's styled hats for ladies

I've posted about her before in the powder room...Belle (BoringSydney) on Etsy has turned up some 40s lady's hat blocks and is doing beautiful hats thru her Etsy shop. Very reasonably priced I might add for custom work! She did a lovely doll hat for me and I am thrilled!
