If your friend isn't averse to it, I suggest checking out higher end consignment stores. They sell near-new (and sometimes brand new) clothes for 30% of retail.

Thanks again. I'll have to see if there are any good consignment shops around. I don't know of any.

And I do most of my shopping on the web, it seems. I've never bought from Sierra Trading Post, however.

They carry some quality stuff at a substantial discount with a very liberal return policy. And if you're on their mailing list they bombard you with offers for free shipping and additional discounts.

Perhaps Sierra Trading Post has some great deals; I've never shopped there. But note that I said 30% OF retail, not 30% OFF.

I tell anyone and everyone if they don't know what to buy me to buy me something cashmere. I think of it as a classic item.
I am just now seeing in the stores the rage I saw in Scotland in January and France and Germany in September.
Every single person it seemed but especially every female from 5 to 105 I saw had a scarf around the neck. Not only for warmth but for style. I was amazed and bought quite a few.
They mostly were long.
It is folded like in half and wrapped around back of neck like this and then the end thru the loop. There was also large silk flowers to accent.
I love scarves about as much as cashmere cardigans.
Hope she loves it.

Wow, thanks, Foofoogal. It seemed like they were becoming more popular, but I guess from what you're seeing, they are. And I had no idea there would be scarf tying videos. But, why not? There are definitely enough how to tie a tie instructions, I think. (But I haven't checked for them on YouTube).
