Hello,

i'm looking for you opinion.

Can a brown cedar Akubra Hampton be matched with a black coat in wintertime ?
Or should I stick to the brown leather jacket instead ?

I think that would work especially if teamed up with brown shoes or other earth tone accessories (scarf/tie/gloves) and of course your trousers.
I tend to match hat and shoes - brown hat=brown shoes, black shoes=grey hat, but that's just my take on it.

It's a fashion 'faux pas' nowadays to have your accessories colour matching your attire so yes, it will work..... just make sure your earrings aren't too flashy.

Thanks for your feedbacks. I am now reassured!! Im not so much into fashion but brown mixed with black looked a bit weird to me. I guess I'll give it a try

Brown and black can work well with each other. Brown often has black undertones. As someone else has said, too much color matching can be regarded as unfashionable.

I personally feel that caring about a fashion faux pas is a personal faux pas

wear what you like

Several times this past winter, I wore a charcoal brown sport coat, blue or white shirt, gray slacks, black shoes, and a black or charcoal gray hat. I thought it looked sharp.

Can't say for sure without seeing actual black and brown combo but Stetson says grey and brown are approved!

(And there's a black tie in there)

If it works for you its not your faux pas. It may be someone else's. Their prob not yours. Personally a lot depends on the shade of the color brown. A black hat can certainly work with a deep chocolate brown overcoat and a tan/camel/gold color fedora will work with black nicely. Not familiar w the Akubra Cedar. You like it? You wear it!
