L. A. Noire (video game)

I've thoroughly enjoyed playing video games by Rockstar Games, this one seems like another hit.
On top of that, it takes place in the Golden Era, which I love to immerse myself in daily.

To be released in Spring of 2011, but I want to play it now. :eusa_doh:

I thought the lead character looked a little too familiar and did some investigating, turns out that Aaron Stanton who plays Ken Cosgrove on AMC's "Mad Men" series was digitized for the game.

Seems like it's going to be released for the consoles first, which is what is traditionally done. Computer versions of these games usually come out much later, sometimes not at all.

A new video has been recently posted on the motion capture technology that Team Bondi used to make the realistic faces for this game, pretty impressive!
Although, on some characters I wished they put a little more time into the clothing, to me some of the hats and clothing don't quite fit the heads. Oh well, the game is still in the late creation stages.

I noticed that about the character's hats as well Retro, I think, besides the unnatural shape of the hat, the problem is there isn't any gravity working on the hat... I read this is a problem with a lot of physics in video games and animation, making an object react with a sense of weight, instead of just being plopped onto a character.

Aside from small errors, this game looks awesome. The facial movements are amazing. I'm definitely purchasing this. Have you played Mafia II Retro?

L.A. Noire looks very promising, indeed.

"Mafia" was a Czech game that had a lot of potential, but was ultimately underdeveloped (long load-times, poor voice-acting, and the general impression that the game creators really wanted to make an auto-racing game instead). I heard the second game picks up in the '50s, but I never tried it out.

Mafia II is pretty fun, but something about it doesn't feel as free as a GTA style game. The main goal always follows the story line and once that's done, the game is over.

One thing I have enjoyed more with Rockstar is that now they usually create games that go beyond the regular story mode with large free roam maps that you can have a multiplayer experience - gives you more bang for your buck. You can roam around and check out the maps while not be forced to complete a mission in a certain amount of time.

I'm playing their 'Red Dead Redemption' game a lot now in multiplayer, now that I've completed the story modes for all the releases.
Love that game, and the c.1911 scenery is quite beautiful to look at.

So, I'm hoping they did that for L.A. Noire as well. Would be disappointing if it just ended once the story mode is complete.

I'm definitely a big fan of Red Dead. Played that a lot. And I do assume LA Noire will be similar and have the same free vibe that Rockstar games have.

Here's a brand spankin' new video of the gameplay, released today by Rockstar called "Orientation". I think this is the best video so far.

it reveals much more of the scenery of 1940s L.A. not seen in previous clips. I love the streets, the buildings, the Pacific Electric rail yards, aww heck, have to say I love it all.

I don't play many video games anymore, but L.A. Noir looks like it might be worth picking up. It sure is a shame that it only is being released on consoles (at least for now).

I started playing Mafia II last night. The hats on this game look amazing so far. LA Noire though looks incredible!

I haven't seen a game that looked worthy enough to play in years, but this looks fantastic. I fear buying it though since it looks addicting.
