Looks like a quality zip. There can't be much dispute that Eastman are pretty close to the top.

Perhaps Gary will do a deal with John Chapman so he can use them on some of his Good Wears!

Are they from Eastman, or Japan?
Will they sell just a zip?

Good wares.

ELC don't sell their Crowns separately and I suspect the same will be the case for the Kwik zips. I doubt if they are made in Devon. I'm sure if you email Gary he will enlighten you.

I must admit that ten years ago I would have been horrified at the level of interest placed on mere zips, as opposed to design, fabric, cuts and build quality.

Nowadays I buy right into the obsession with detail such as zips.

I know what you mean. We are very particular nowadays about zips. It has to be the correct zip for the jacket, which may cause problems for ELC. The Kwik zip was only used in any quantity on Cable A2s, along with Conmars and some Talons. If ELC put them on their house A2s, that's fine, but not on other original maker jackets (the Cable excepted). They have over used the Crowns to such an extent that they do not always cope with the heavy fleece jackets.

Conmar Zippers

Are they making the Conmar zippers again? I noticed this websight, but it does not seem to go any where else! I have an original Perry Sportswear A2, and asked ELC if they could make a replica, they said easy except I would have to supply the Conmar! http://conmarzippers.com/

ELC can't repro a Conmar as that brand is owned by Ideal and therefore still a going concern (in theory). It is good to see a repro jacket maker paying attention to the zippers too, as they own the brand now perhaps we will also see a rectangular-style Kwik which was more common on wartime jackets. As for if they'd sell Kwiks to GW, I have to say "why?!"...they are competitors in the market after all, funny how it always goes back to mentioning GW's whatever we discuss!!

It would be great to see the more common rectangular style Kwik, but nevertheless Kwik zips were only used in quantities by Cable Raincoat. Paul I wasn't being serious about JC buying these zips from ELC-just a bit of fun!:)
