Sweet Chicago Style Knox 20 (with a flaw) Here's a gorgeous Knox 20, light gray. The hat has Knox's "Custom Edge," its version of the Cavanagh edge. The brim is a classic generous 2 3/8". As bashed, the hat is 4 1/2" in front, 5 1/4" midway, 5" in back. The ribbon is 2 1/4" with that jaunty Knox double bow on the back side. It has the original sweat with "Knox 20" and Custom Edge embossed , along with the embossed name of the original seller, Woolf Brothers. The liner is a lovely silk, sewn in of course. The cap over the Knox logo is an opaque plastic. That and the dimensions make me think its from the early to mid 50s at the latest, late 40s at the earliest.

Its a gorgeous hat, with no moth bites, spider or other insect damage. But the felt just above the ribbon is very lightly discolored, with a kind of a khaki highlight. You can see it if you look closely in the picture with the ribbon. You can also see it in the close up pic, though this is tougher because the color of the picture gets "browner" from left to right. I sent it to Graham Thompson, and he said it isn't coming out. But I did have him give it a good cleaning. I bought it from a guy who told me it had been in the box for years since his Dad died, and the placement of the line makes me think it is from the box. The color doesn't bother me. But the crown height and the wide brim just don't go with my narrow face. So I am offering it for $150. Let me know if you are interested. I have the exact same hat. Its a 1949 knox, the only difference is that my grandfather, whos hat it was had the brim cut down sometime in the late 1950s, when that was the style. My brim is 2". I even brought the hat to JJ Hats in NYC for a brush and shape and they couldnt tell is was the brim was cut down. They thought the crown was very tall for a small brim and then I told them the secret. Do you still have the hat?
