Nice looking knife but are the scales on one side thicker than the other?

Thank you!
No, that’s just an unfortunate concatenation of a lens at relative wide angle setting, slightly off-center perspective and light.

My search continues for the perfect EDC.....this Buck knife ain't it. The thumb screw sits too low to be of use and overall it is just too stiff to be of any great use. Looks good but still my little Case spring assist is the one I continue to carry. The search will continue..... View attachment 271197

I know this is an ancient post but that's a Buck Tempest, it should be spring loaded.
Speaking of autos, you never know when one might come in handy:

I was in the next bigger city and I saw this back-lock one with it's kind of sexy handle and I found it just too cute. It's a nice compact but serious 5,5 cm blade. It's the "Jewel" from the affordable Böker Magnum series.

Has anyone of you ever tried such a compact mobile sharpener? Could it be reliable?

I got a Lansky sharpener as below. These are good for „resetting“ the cutting angle once you might possibly have screwed it up using a bench stone or similar and for quick ‘n‘ dirty sharpening as I’ve not seen one yet that wouldn’t leave a relative „burry“ edge. I would recommend to additionally go for a 600/1000 bench stone also. These are available at a moderate price tag from Mr. Bezos‘ store brand for example.

My loungers, I'm still happy with my ("WaffG 42a conform") Walther Pro EDK.

I can just recommend it. For an affordable 440c steel knife, it's def. sufficient sharp, I tell you! I would still say, this is not for kiddies!
