It's always really bugged me that the Enron gang got little punishment for an overwhelmingly dirty crime while the Feds treated Martha Stewart like she was John Dillinger. And now Lang has cheated the hangman.

But I'm with Lizzie and glad of the tax savings. Though it'll just go for cabbage research in the Amazon Jungle or something.

Coincidence?

Kenny Boy Lay got his nickname from the President who had claimed not to know Mr. Lay.

Mr. Bush had also disclaimed knowing Jack Abramoff, another convicted felon.

Pictures and written records proved that George W. Bush's memory was faulty or convenient or something.

Is he really dead? Has anyone seen a body? Is the funeral going to be closed casket, or even cremation? Is it possible he faked his death and is now living it up on some tropical island somewhere?

Well, they did perform an autopsy...

Who’s “they”? The same people who performed the autopsy on that Roswell alien?;)

I believe it was Mesa County Coroner Robert Kurtzman, but I'm having a hard time keeping all the conspiracy theories straight, so I could be wrong! ;)

I admit it; I’m one of those conspiracy theory nuts. Anything can be turned into a good conspiracy if you apply enough twisted logic to it.

Not enough information about something, conflicting reports, no real written proof or photos. And if there is proof, it was probably doctored anyway, so you can’t trust it.

Hm, that sounds fun but very exhausting...

Stress will do it...

All hail stress, then.

I have no sympathy for the man, just sorry true justice wasn’t done, for top honcho who kept saying he didn’t know what was going on or what happened to the $$, is pretty lame excuse, let one of us lower rank and file people try saying that, it doesn't cut the mark.
I feel for all those who lost their future savings, I hope where ever Lay went he brings a lot of ice in the bucket, he is sure gonna need it.

And on a serious note:

http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/energy/2006-07-05-lay_x.htm

As sudden and unexpected as Lay's death was, government prosecutors were studying the possibility that legal precedent might require the indictment against him to be dismissed, and his conviction erased. Under that scenario, the government could not collect the $44 million it demanded he forfeit in a court filing last week.

Former prosecutor Ellen Podgor, a law professor at Stetson University College of Law, said, "It's a very strong precedent, as clear as it could be. In the Lay case, it will mean he does not die as a convicted felon. It will be as if his conviction does not exist."

That's funny, 41 seemed to remember KL.

In a statement, the elder Bush said Wednesday, "I was sad to hear the news of the death of someone I considered a friend."

"Kenneth Lay died last night." But his legacy lives eternally as an example of corporate greed that attempts to eclipse rich, arogant, out of touch politicians.
