J&M, Florsheim; when did Crown Aristocraft and Royal Imperial become top line?

If I remember correctly, Aristocraft and Imperial were their top line looong times ago. At some time the old top-of-the-line Aristocraft and Imperial were renamed Crown Aristocraft and Royal Imperial respectively and then Aristocraft and Imperial became lesser lines.
Any idea when the change happened?

I don't know for sure, but the last pair of Imperials I ordered I rejected because the quality had deteriorated so badly. A shame as I usaed to love Florsheim.
