I was right

It's a good thing you have an Optimo hat to keep your head warm!!!

Mr. Zohar!! I saw the weather channel this morning and knew you folks out there were in for a foul time!

We have gray skys and a cold rain system moving into the west coast. It's cold here , and a DAMP cold.

You dry cold guys fight ice and snow, but we have a dampness that goes down to your bones.

Mark Twain said once the coldest winter he ever spent was a summer day in San Francisco. FOG and Drizzle is the norm. :coffee:

I saw the weather channel at dinner time and the southern parts of NC already had almost 3" of snow and people were going nutso.

And Andykev, I know exactly what you mean about the Pacific North West weather. When I lived in Portland, overall I was probably more chilled
9 months out of the year then I am here in Boston. But at least here the sun is out 95% of the time. (ok, so its -4 degree, but it's a dry cold!)

We all talk.

About where we'd like to retire ...what state, city, region.

I could never live in Portland, or Seattle. It is just too damn gray and raining. Ya you can look and see they don't get a lot of rain in inches, but in checking the daily totaly, it spreads out over many a gray day.

The SF bay area is perfect. We get HOT weather out here in the inland valleys, and there are the rainy days, the fog, the cold clear days. Nothing is ever an extreme, and you do get a bit of it all. Lots of clear days too. Nice summers.

Stay warm Zohar.....

Hope that you all stay warm. The weather here in our corner of South Carolina has been very cold and there is about 2 inches of ice everywhere. This last front that came hit further south than was expected. Stay safe and warm. Regards,Williamson.

I dunno, I'd call ground shaking pretty extreme. ;)

We got 6 inches of snow and ice over night. I almost put on my hockey skates to go to the truck this morning. Aparently another front is coming through and they've let the government go home 3 hours early.

... yet we're still stuck in this place.

I'm having a really tough time liking my job this week. But for more reasons than just the weather. So before I go off on a tangent and get this thread totally off topic, I'll stop here and go back to grumbling at my projects.

Stay safe... and warm everyone.

The power and internet finally came back on.

Here are some pictures of what it looked like this morning. My oak trees lost a bunch of branches, and a few pines were snapped in half. Other than that, we're in good shape.

We somehow have dodged the bullet on these storms this winter...this mess went south and north of us, but man, the cold air isn't going to miss us tonight! They're forecasting single digit numbers. Boy, the old Plymouth is SURE going to be fun driving home tonight!!! Regards. Michaelson

Zohar,

Those are great pictures of all the ice. Usually, the tranquility of a fresh snow makes for great pics, but when you get that kind of ice coating, it just screams "Take a picture of me!"
Stay warm.

Will you guys stop posting pictures of ice and snow? :) I'm freezing my tootsies off just looking at these pictures. It's a brisk 65 degrees here in s. cal and I may have to put on my jacket for lunch. :) <Sergei ducking his head underneath table...>

The chopping sound you now hear is Zohar chopping down one of his ice laden oaks, and aiming it in the general direction of Sergei's desk.......(grins) Regards. Michaelson

I just hope

You can plug your car in with your block heater for your drive Michaelson!
I just bought my wife a new Jetta VW and it has heated leather seats. Our Avalon was too big for her so this is what we decided on. You guys in the ice areas..my hat isn't off to you..it's on to keep warm:p

Just as I was talking to Zohar on AIM... we had a freak storm... white out conditions. I would have taken a picture of what it would have looked like... but nothing would have come out. Just stare at a white wall for a second and you get the picture.

I love storms and how they bring out the man in all of us... except if your a woman, that's something diffrent.
