Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I have been perusing many of the posts for a while. I discovered John Helmer's Haberdashery in Portland this past summer. My first hat was a Fur felt Bailey whose crown seemed to taper to a pinpoint. I admired many of your thought on the Akubra's and went with a Mid-Brown Stylemaster. It has been fun wearing this hat. I just got a DM Moonstone Squatter. My wife has gotten into hats now, she likes her Stetson weekender. We will be heading up to David Morgans by Seattle to get her an Akubra Snowy River in grey. Thanks for all the great posts and information that you put on here. It has been terrific discovering hats. Emilio and Elizabeth.

Welcome Emilio and Elizabeth. You've started with some good hats, Akubras. You'll enjoy them for many years and you'll enjoy David Morgans. They are nice folks and can help you alot with your Akubra's. Look forward to seeing your pics of your trip

I found the Lounge a few weeks ago and immediately felt right at home. As one of the 'big heads', but also 'bald heads' I have tried to keep the dome covered but had a hard time finding ball caps that fit. The 'one size fits all' tag doesn't seem to apply to anything over about 7 1/4 so I periodically looked for a more stylish lid. I have had several Ivy caps including a Borsalino Doria purchased in Provincetown Mass last year. 8 panels are now my 'go to' grabs with jeans running errands or whatever.
My fedora stable now includes the Borso shown in the profile pic, a nice silvery 40's-50's Stetson Royal Deluxe with a nice wide brim a few straws including my grandfather's Mallory with a Cattleman's bash and several stingies. The Stingies don't get worn much now that I'm feeling good under a wider lid. The compliments come frequently and friends are getting used to seeing me in a nice hat.

Greetings, from the NorthWest Pacific Coast, just out side of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, continuing the rain theme (currently 1\2 inch hourly) and thank you to all those who founded and have helped this forum develop over the years. A lifelong fan of the Golden Era, starting with radio drama in my early childhood and growing through a love of classic and noir theatre, it is wonderful to meet such a dedicated group of likeminded enthusiasts. I have always considered hats a practical element of dress, from the cloth caps of school years to the practicality of the fedora. Currently my regular wear hats include a Robert Hall/MaGill teardrop fedora with a 2" brim in grey, and a Robert Hall/MaGill diamond crown fedora, 2 3/4" brim in black. A Borsolino also lives in the collection but only appears in more fairweather months. I look forward to the rest of the forum. Stay safe.

I am glad to have found The Fedora Lounge. Most of you guys seem to be more into vintage and custom made hats. I have only recently started my collection of fedoras and to date, I have three, which I purchased new (Dobbs, Biltmore). I will post a picture when the forum allows me to post attachments. I guess I have to post a few times before this feature is available to me. I have enjoyed seeing the photos and reading the posts here.

Kenny I am the same way. I would love to own some vintage stuff but the prices are a little out of my range as we speak. Right now my collection is a Stetson fur felt saxon and a wool Scala. I have newsboy caps and other such things but the big boys are what I wear 99 percent of the time now.

Historyteach24, yes, the competition is stiff on ebay and the like, so, I prefer to go the way of purchasing new......prices are reasonable and I have been able to find some really nice quality, satin lined fedoras. I prefer the fur felt.....can't wear wool. Nice avatar, btw......Kenny

This is a really nice site, and you guys have such nice hats, theres no way I can keep up with you guys. Ive been working with hats for 5 years. I have Dobbs, Stetsons, Baileys, Maysers, Borsalinos, and I have been trying to get my hands on a nice Habig. I know enough about them I could make them, so any questions on cleaning, storing, blocking, repair, etc just ask or pm me. I hope I can bring something to this already great forum.

that's great to hear THat Guy, maybe you open a New Thread and show us some Tricks about Cleaning, Blocking, Shaping etc.
