Indy Jackets (Wested and Kelso)

Hoping that we’re leaving Winter behind us soon. I have three jackets to sell, each very different from the other.

The first is a Wested Raiders, (not a Hero), in goatskin tagged a size 44. ThIs is a great hide, with perfect drape, grain, and color for that screen look. As is typical of the Raiders model, the zipper doesn’t go all the way to the bottom like the one in the Hero model. It has two inside pockets, one with a zipper closure. It’s in great condition, no smoke or odors. $100 shipped
Chest pit to pit: 25.5”
Sleeve: 25”
Back: 25.25”
Shoulders: 21”

This Wested TOD jacket is sold.
Second is a Wested TOD in authentic lamb that’s been very nicely distressed that is tagged size 46. The person who did the distressing showed excellent restraint, making it look very natural. It has the heavy zipper, small pockets, correct side pleats, etc. Again, no smoke or odors. $150 shipped

Back: 26.5”
Shoulders: 21”

Last is a beautiful Kelso Relic Hunter (Raiders Cairo) in Liberty horsehide tagged a size 44. This is a sturdy jacket with all the correct hardware and details just beginning to break in. I can’t say no odors because it has the intoxicating Kelso leather smell, but again, no smoke etc. $500 shipped

3 excellent jackets, but that Bill Kelso is just supreme. I absolutely cherish mine, so if anyone is that size and you are looking for a jacket of this style, do yourself a favor and buy it now.

Wested's 'authentic lamb' is a very light leather. It's popular among the Indy costume crowd especially as that's what Ford's screen-worn jackets were made from.

Yes, the lambskin is light - my Wested Raiders is my "summer leather".

My vintage-2003 Raiders is actually dark brown lamb, they weren't offering the "authentic" hides yet then. It's now worn and faded in the expected spots, but still quite dark.

Here's a pic from just last week... though what I was really showing off here is my new HNC-Hatworks/Agnoulita "early fedora".



I really like this darker brown. Wested doesn't offer it anymore, but you can now get their custom Indy jackets made in black lambskin, which I must admit I find quite tempting!

I've resisted thus far, but I'm actually really tempted by the cotton version. Ultimately, I think I'd go for the Crusade cut (for the simple reason I have owned a Raiders, would like another in a different hide, and the ToD in goat - always nice to have a slight variation on the theme). Though in order for it not to look like an oddly inaccurate movie piece, I'm actually seriously considering seeing if they can do it in another colour completely - bottle green would look fab. One for those dark, dark, London Summer hellmonths when leather is simply impossible...

That HNC looks great, btw... really captures that vibe of what I suppose we'd more consider a 'homburg' now, but bashed to a more casual fedora-style look on the crown. It's a style of which I'm a big fan. Homburgs worn that way (and/or Lords' Hats) were more commonly seen in Britain and Ireland in the 20s and into the early 30s than the American-style fedora. It's a great look - you wear it well. Goes well with the Indy jacket too for when you're consciously avoiding the full on Indy look.

The dimensions are the same exact as you posted for your Tod. Does your jacket fit pretty true to a 46 with plenty of room inside? I am thinking because the leathers are different may have something to do with it.

It's @Tibor you need to ask - they're the OP selling these jackets.

There's definitely a bit of variation between Wested models, though - in their regular line, I would wear a 42 in the Raiders, but per the measurements on their webpage, I'd need a 44 in the ToD.

Exactly so, Edward.. The TOD model is cut to be trimmer. I normally take a 44 but in the TOD, that jumps a size unless you’re after that tight, post soaking in a Himalayan river and worn in the Indian sun look.
