Brian thumbs up for that one. Outstanding selection. Every word and every note exudes romance..."You Are Too Beautiful", "My One And Only Love", "Lush Life", "Autumn Serenade".Brian Sheridan said:This album will melt hearts, speakers, Ipods, anything. Make grown men weak in the knees and woman shuck their undies.
The deep, longing tenor of John Coltrane coupled with the velvety, butterscotch sound of Johnny Hartman. A short but totally romantic recording.
If I'd have to pick another album, it would be Sinatra's
"In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning".
It's a blue, melancholy album, built around a spare rhythm section featuring a rhythm guitar, and Bill Miller's piano, with gently aching strings added every once and a while. Within that melancholy mood is one of Sinatra's most jazz-oriented performances. The album is a personal reflection of the heartbreak of his doomed love affair with actress Ava Gardner, and the standards that he sings form their own story when collected together.
Just one more pick- the newly released Shelby Lynne's "Just A Little Lovin".
It's a tribute album to Dusty Springfield. This album was recorded in Capital Records Studio with Frank Sinatra's legendary microphone and producer Phil Ramone. Lynne's versions of Dusty's songs are just as sultry, but the sparce arrangements make this a very romantic listen. And the Burt Bacharach tune, "The Look of Love" hasn't sounded this good in over 40 years.
