Certified drool worthy! The most recognizable, most desired civilian leather jacket.

I don't typically post auctions, don't want to be a spoiler.

This will be an interesting sale.

Any guess on sale price? there is another currently on ebay out of Europe is the $4K range.

Wow, what a jacket!
It's a gem no doubts. Just gorgeous.
Considering the measurements it looks to be size 38, which is too small to me(

Super cool jacket. What is it about this jacket that leads you to call it the “most desired civilian leather jacket”?

I’m not questioning your statement, just wondering what specific attributes make it the most desirable for you? (I dig this kind of jacket analysis.)

I think of it that way, because I can't think of another jacket in those terms. That is the one that draws the most attention and the most money. I don't know how it came to be this way. There are probably numerous reproductions of this style. I believe Dave shealy just finished one. I see this style in a couple of Japanese brands, they're not labeled as Hercules though.

Buying this jacket could begin and at the same time end you're collecting. I thought about that very thing when I was considering buying one on eBay. It was $2,400. It's sold while I was counting my money.

There are actually jackets I would rather have. Actually I've got jackets that are more unique than that one, probably more rare, but not as desirable

Thanks for that. Amazing that there was only one bidder. I notice he took down his other auction after that one ended. Too bad- it was a nice size 50 horsehide NOS Ricard.

Vintage jackets in a size larger than 44 are hard to find. I've had a few 46s. I'm looking at one, of great interest, that is said to be a size 48. I wear a 44, so I'm really hesitant.

In my experience, much more limited than yours, vintage sizes are at least one size smaller than modern ones. I wear a modern 50 and am hoping this one will work for me. I don't expect a tight fit, but I don't necessarily want one in this style. I have an early Score horsehide coat (Toronto Metropolitan Police) that I really should photograph for the folks here. Fits fine. Let's not talk about the jackets that were made for me that people now think are vintage... and perhaps they are.

Have I mentioned how much I like GWs? This Imperial looks very nice!

Well no, I don't think I've heard a word from you, but I've seen some great photos! Makes me think you may like Goodwear jackets.

I think the Imperial I posted above is John's best work, but don't tell anybody!
