I want to restart the golden era in my town

Hello all!
I'm brand-new to this lounge, so HELLO!
Tonight, my thoughts have gone from hopeful and wonderful,
to "oh drat! What if THAT happens?"

So let me premise what I'm getting at...

I am discovering more and more about the Golden Era and i love it.
No denying that I am the type that says "That, that and that need to make a comeback!"
By no means have I nailed the look (at least i don't think so), but
i still deeply care for and respect the era. So kudos to anyone actually
living it even in the modern day.

See, I don't frequent night clubs and rowdy events.
I get thinking, what if I host an old-style picnic for those in the
community that share my love of the golden era.
Hot dogs, apple pie, lemonade... The checkered picnic napkins and things... You
get the idea.
Ideally this event would attract people from all ages that want to revive those wonderful
decades.

If i were to do the event, do any of you readers have any suggestions?

Then my worries kick in...
What if some poser hipsters rock up coz "vintage is cool" while
completely overlooking the actual attitude and appreciation that goes with it?
Plus, there is a locally owned vintage-esc business in town that I made
really really mad because I ripped them for inappropriate work clothing and terrible
customer service... It'd be kinda crap if any of them turned up because
they aren't very nice.

Can anyone empathize with what I'm hoping to achieve?
Any advice on the gathering?
Any advice on meeting more like-minded people?

I want to delve more into this lifestyle and learn as much as I can.

You won't find out, unless you tried.
Unless you organize a "closed" event only for people into this "subculture", way-of-life or interest, but instead hope to attract the public at large in your area, you realistically won't get too many "dyed in the wool enthusiasts". So if you hope to gather more than a small handful of people, brace for "hipsters" or people just interested in an "unusual event".

Also among those seriously into this era and lifestyle, you won't find agreement as to what constitute the real "attitude" and "genuine appreciation".
