Yesterday while browsing through Dillards I saw that they had their Fedoras marked nearly half off. So I picked up my first fedora. Not a top of the line but I liked it. Its a coffee colored Stetson Raider. The even better part is I still have enough money in my "hat budget" to purchase the light gray fedora I also wanted. Its just a matter of ordering it now.

That graphic is entirely too mean and obnoxious. From the time I saw it I've been waiting for the right time to use it. :D

Congratulations! I know some people would not ever think of going to dillards for a hat, but if it fits and you dig it, it's a winner!

I've bought many hats that were not even close to top of the line hats and I wear them with all my others ones. You don't need a Cavanagh or an Optimo to look good. :cheers1:

DANG!

I never would have thought to look there either. I quickly (well as fast as I can type w/o my morning coffee) went to their website, and alas, no stetson or fedora listed, must only be "in store" I looked and the closest one is 5 hours away, oh well. glad someone found a hat they love.

I looked online as well when I first found out the one here carries them. They didn't have any in my size at that time. I didn't find them online either but they had 2 racks of them at the store.

The one I bought was the last one they had in my size. I wouldn't have minded getting a black one as well if they had had it.

Hey from what I can remember the Raider is a great looking hat. You'll get alot of compliments from passerbys with that one.

Just don't wear it in the rain.

I've been wearing my hat for a couple of days now. People who are not accustom to seeing me in a hat just seem to eye it but never say anything. lol

I'm unable to post a photo of it as, believe it or not, I'm digitally deprived.

I did give the hat a couple coats of Camp Dry just in case I were to be caught out in the rain. Hopefully it will keep it from getting nearly as soaked as it would with out it.

Now, on to shopping for that light gray fedora.

How true. I get many compliments on my cheapo Pendleton wool fedora.

I bought a porkple from Hats in the Belfry for $19.95 ( yes the spelling is correct, exactly as it appears on the sweat band of the hat, hence the price). I get "Cool hat" comments nearly every time I wear it.

I have a 15 dollar wool Trilby that negotiates a lot of compliments. [huh] [huh]

Go figure.

So, even though we all covet well made hats with wonderful materials involved, humble wool still manages to get the job done!

How can you not get a "Cool Hat" comment wearing any kind of Pork Pie? :D
