Thanks for the suggestions chaps, much appreciated. Higgins & Brown certainly appear to be a viable option, both as far as price is concerned and because they have branches all over the place. Two in Edinburgh I see, which is quite tempting. MTM prices from £450 bodes well too.
I'm sure Graham Browne would be a good choice too and bespoke prices starting at £800 ought to mean MTM is available well within £700. I'd probably prefer to head elsewhere though, if only because I'd rather visit Edinburgh again, or go somewhere I've not yet been.
Another good point, which I'll bear in mind. In the meantime I've located a a number of tailors within my preferred price range and based all over the UK, so the prospects seem good.
