I can now say that I saw, & heard in person, dave brubeck play take five.
I can also say that the painting of him on the front of the program makes
him look like a vampire. oh well it was for a good cause.

great drum solo by the drummer as well, he brought the house down.

Big Band????

I must say that Take Five is one of my favorite Big Band songs ever. Must have been great to be there and hear it.

huh?

Brubeck wrote Take Five for a small combo... NOT anything like a big band in size, and no where near the Big Band era! It's modern jazz.

I am not criticizing per se, but just confused and wondering why the heck that would be the phrase you chose to describe this?

Dave Brubeck looks like a vampire. There's no denying it.

But that's because our vampire memes are informed by Christopher Lee, the great Bela Lugosi (as mentioned earlier) or the even greater "The Count" from Sesame Street - who really looks like Dave Brubeck.

Not so much when he's a bat.

Actually written by Paul Desmond, the saxophinist. True, it was intended to be performed by the Quartet, and it's vintage, late fifties, puts it well past the era of the big band.

Pardon my bad choice in phrases. Probably has to do with me writing this on the brink of bed after a long day of work. Big band was the first phrase that came to my mind at the time. Now that I've had more sleep I see my botch in phrases.
