I Bought an ELC G-1 55J14 Jacket

I made an impulse purchase of a really nice Eastman Leather G-1 - ironically, it was sent from California, when I live less than 5 miles from ELC - I don't even want to think about the carbon footprint

It ended up being a size too big - it's a 44 - and it's already gone to a good home. It's a shame because I loved it: beautiful dark, pebbled goatskin, contrasting stitching, really nice mouton. But it was a good and useful experiment. I thought I'd post some pics for reference purposes:

I'm going to try a 42 on at Eastman, but I think I'm going to get a vintage M-422A next.

Cheers,

Pip

Shame. Looks like a nice jacket. I wasn't comfortable with my Eastman A2 and got shot of it. I think a size down is good.

The fit looks a bit long in the body and sleeves but at first glance looks really good. Good luck with the next one. Sometimes it takes a while to get the right fit.

I had exactly the same experience with an Eastman G1. I tried on a 44 and thought "Yes, that's fine." Then after pondering it for a few minutes I concluded "Actually it's a bit long and a bit blousey." I tried a 42 and it was perfect - loose enough for a sweatshirt underneath.

Nice jacket, Papa M. That's the one you ended up with, I presume - fits well at the back and the arms are the right length. Is that the .50Cal?

John, it doesn't look particularly big except on the arms, where the cuffs are swallowed by the goatskin. The problem for me was that there was way too much spare leather across the front, particularly around the neck, which made the collar hang wrong and rucked up the leather inside uncomfortably, particularly when zipped all the way up. It's cut for someone with much broader shoulders than mine. Also it looks like I'm filling the jacket out but in real life there's actually less of me so it's a bit of an illusion. If I wasn't a perfectionist and a tinkerer by nature I'd probably have kept it but, you know, just can't let things lie...

I'm not sure if they do a G1 in their .50CAL.

I'm going over to ELC next week so I'll ask. I thought I saw one in American Classics, but maybe it was just the Time Worn.
