Perhaps a better way is to measure the collar of your shirt?

I indeed did that yesterday. measured 42cm... :(

The seller said the neck circumference is 44cm... How come? Tolerance? Can I trust that info?

I was about to go with Dave but if the collar circumference is 44cm it could fit pretty comfortable.

probably you can ask the seller if that measurement is taken on the base of the neck or after the collar with button closed
with slightly slanted collar, upper hole becomes smaller

I'm looking forward to your jacket arriving and seeing some pics ProteinNerd, I ordered a black Shinki J100 from Dave last week.
Did you request any deviations from the standard jacket?

Learnt from my last attempt that sticking to the tried and tested classic model is probably the best idea. I did ask for an inside pocket but Dave was worried that it wouldn't really work.

The jacket has hit Australian shores as of today according to the tracking so it shouldn't be long, hopefully customs won't hold it up for too long.

How good is watching the tracking get closer :) The inside pocket was exactly what I was contemplating, but I also elected to not to mess with the classic design.

I'm about to pull the trigger this week too! 3 x J100 in Oz...should have done a group buy!

Interior pockets are so handy...but I could understand how it would mess up the front profile. Maybe Dave could do an interior cloth pocket like Himel does on the Kensington.

Did you go with brass or nickel hardware?
And what kind of lining?
Also, did you make any special requests as far as the length?

@technovox Dave said the lining construction may not support a pocket like that and could tear, thus he felt it was better to not try it.

I just went old school classic. Nickel hardware, black cotton lining. My first shortened jacket by him had the brass hardware, I just prefer nickel over the shinny new looking brass which Dave used. I love vintage antique looking brass but not so much the shinny new stuff......just personal preference.

I didn't mess with the length this time, Dave takes a number of your measurements including height, weight, chest, abdomin, arm length etc and makes it according to that. I messed with the length first time and while I got an outstanding jacket (which I definitely regret selling now.....damn do I regret it) it wasn't a classic J 100 which is what I wanted. So no changes for me this time....I think I've finally reached that zen understanding that I don't know better than the manufacturers themselves lol

It was nearly 4 Aussies as I was going to order one too. Instead, and for a lot less $, last week I got Schott 641XX from Japan. It has an inside pocket. It's similar to the Buco - a classic simple racer. It's as well made as any Aero or Johnson Leathers or Alexanders Leather jacket I've ever owned. It's a lovely thing.

Sorry - slightly off topic - but similar jacket.

Wow! Do you plan on by any chance putting together a little review of this beauty, along with a few photos? :D This is quite possibly my most favorite jacket there is, by far, and I sure wouldn't mind hearing more about it.

They are a nice jacket..if you don't need extra sleeve length..or don't ride.

I'm happy they did since, as far as I am concerned, you couldn't have gotten a better jacket! I'm gonna get me one too, one of these days. And I wholeheartedly agree with you that Schott makes as good stuff as anyone else we know or care about.

HD, Schott 641XX is 25.5 to 26 in sleeves, long enough for riding of any sort.

Huh...not for all of us. 25 1/2 would definitely be too short for me...26 might work...but I usually favor a tad more than that when riding.

Can you post fit pics please? :)

Also is that jacket as lightweight as a Buco J-100 or heavier?

Wise words. For me length is good. Usually have around 25 inch sleeves - these are 25.5. Back length is 25.5 too. Fits two inches over my belt. If you had a long torso might be too short. Nice mid-weight leather and I love American made objects. It actually fits like a Brooks cafe racer.

Anyway back to J100's.
