I have two rabbit/Hare hats from Hufvud and they are my favorites. The American custom hats are too stiff for my taste. My Hufvuds are soft and malleable. I enjoy changing the shape by hand to conform to my mood. They are so malleable I can put them in the airplane overhead compartment and instantly reshape them by hand if they get crushed. They are the most practical for travel. They handle rain well. My other custom hats I tend to baby. I'm careful not to crush them or get them wet. The Hufvud is a hat that's made to be beaten up and worn and improves with age. The sweatband and liner are luxurious. I especially like the beige gray felt with black wide ribbon. If i could use one word to describe this hat it would be "fun".

It was just that malleable look of the felt that attracted me to Hufvud in the first place. The photos reminded me of the nicer vintage hats I've seen (not all that many, as they rarely show up in my size). I'd be interested in hearing opinions on this from other members. Like JJ above, I hate the feeling of wearing a ceramic bowl on my head. I'm seriously thinking of giving Mikael the nod, maybe for a navy OR, if possible.

I've been REALLY pleased with my Hufvud piece. I went with his 100% beaver felt and it is indeed malleable in the hand and has a luxurious feel and touch. Love how it can be easily formed or tweaked on the fly. I feel it harkens back to the golden era of hat-wearing and feels more a piece of history realized as opposed to modern production. My .02

Yes, the only stopping point for me is in the limited colour offering nothing appeals to me. But I keep waiting and hoping for an addition that strikes my fancy.

I am building up the stock of 100X Beaver (fepsa), currently the factory is closed due to COVID-19. I hope to have much more variety in the future.

Email sent, and you're absolutely right: the planning and designing is half the fun, and I was thinking that, under the circumstances, I could use something to look forward to. Thank God for tax returns.

I decided to go with the 50X moss green in either a Stratoliner or an Open Road. Really looking forward to it. I just finished grading all my students' papers (less said the better) and will be free for some time. Yay!

The hat in my avatar is his now discontinued rabbit/hare blend. Absolutely luxurious, sumptuous, and comfortable. It's my favoritist favorite.

If I had to read one more paper about how "Lady Macbeth is a strong woman," or "Macbeth is obviously suffering from PTSD" I'd be ready for the rubber room. This after I quoted the line,"Shakespeare could have invented Freud, but Freud could never have invented Shakespeare." They have trouble taking a hint.
