Just wondering how vintage we are in the Lounge.
How many were born in the 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's ....90's?

I am a '45 myself. A VERY good year.

I was born in the later half of the 60's, but I was a late arrival with my parents being born in the late 20's! I guess I'm not that vintage as such but I spend a lot of time working with and thinking about the past. [huh]

I'm a first year Baby Boomer, 1946. But I think it's fascinating, and telling, to see the spike from the 80's. I'd be very interested to see what the 80's babies' ideas of vintage are, compared to older Loungers. I suspect a large percent of those 80's-ers are girls in love with the 50's look.

I wonder how many men born in the USA in '45 were named "Colt"? [huh] My mind is a terrible thing. :p ;) :)

Hmmm...roughly the look sported by their grandparents.

October 15, 1947.

1987! So I'm a youngin' still. At least I can legally drink now!

As an 80's girl, Dhermann1, I'm really into the 40's. I love the glamour of it all. I enjoy good manners and chivalry (as long as it isn't overbearing), but I act very, very differently from the women of the 40's. I see the vintage lifestyle as more of a fashion/entertainment thing than anything else, which I think is different from a lot of the other people here who weren't born in the 70's or 80's.

Late 1961.

I was the eldest child, and my parents were in their 40's. My father was the youngest of 10, five of whom survived to adulthood

My paternal grandfather was born in 1869, my grandmother was born in '75, I have vivid memories of them both.

There's actually quite a few parallels between now and the 80s. Stock market/economy in particular.

Between that and the fashion, I stand by my "ew." ;)

Edit: Incidentally, my mom was born in the 40s and my dad in the 30s.

I played in a band called the vintage people. I didnt vote for the name.

I was the youngest member and the name reminded me of the village people yuck.

Late 1961 for me,
I agree with you Paisley about the 1980s;
didn't know what was coming, so I didn't like them.
among the best things about the 80's for me,
the San Francisco Forty Niners,
KJAZ, finally winning my independence
from schools, my parent's home, and the armed forces.
And last, but not least,
my Grandparents were still around.

Always had an affinity for old cars, movies, music etc.
probably because of my Grandparents, and my Godparents.
NOW IT'S AN OBSESSION!

Great thread

I was born in '88, but my Dad was born in 1934, which probably explains my fascination with all things vintage.
