How to Store Hats

[ChetJ]

Looking for Hat Boxes?

I've been combing the internet and found these at Amazon in packs of 3 @ $13.33 each. They work great and are stackable.

Brim Deformation in Storage?

Do you have hats with a soft brim that flatten out during storage? A "brim riser" raises the brim up from its storage surface and allows it to tilt/fall down if desired. Formed out of pool noodle quartered long ways, cut to desired length and then glued together to form a circle just larger than the hat band.

Anyone else have a spare office at your workplace like this (but not work with hats)? I can't be the only crazy one, right?

Also, does anyone ever use these for hat storage/ hat travel? I love them and actually have a few up for sale on eBay
and they really are great.

a while back I picked up a nice older Samsonite hat case for road trip storage. Think they called them railroad cases for overhead luggage bin storage. Im guessing 1960s since its almost identical to a set of Samsonite luggage my folks had back then. It is a solid unit so NOTHING is going to crush a hat in there

Bought a set of three for my westerns, and will see how it goes. Initial impression is good!

Thanks for the tip!

For those that remember, my wife and I relocated to Jerusalem. After much to do in a different city, we have finally moved to our rented apartment. The previous occupants left me some gifts (hats are all mine, including a newly arrived Borsalino, yes, even during wartime).

it looks cool. Is that handmade or from the store?

Chinese bought.

Chinese bought.

I use them at home too for the real goods, along with boxes, hat carriers and a hat display stand.

I bought a cheap hat box From Levine Hats. I'm not overly impressed. I get better hat boxes for free when I buy a hat box from one of you guys.

The box was shipped already folded together, inside a box that was wrapped exactly around the box I purchased, and, of course, the inner box is dinged up.

It will do in a pinch, and I might ship a hat in one, but it isn't tight enough to store a hat in long term. Let me know what you think..

Of course, this is just about the cheapest retail option so, you get what you pay for. It does have an insert, for what that is worth.

Oftentimes, good enough is best. If it does the job, it must be good enough!?

As of about 2 years ago, you could buy Stetson hat boxes at the Garland outlet store for just a few dollars each. Has anyone checked more recently?

Not how I normally store them, but all ready to have the movers pack them up for the move to Nashville
