I wear coat & tie to work and always have a hat with it. Made a quick run to the local sporting goods store the other day, just wearing shorts & t-shirt (so, no hat...usually that might get a Tilly hat if hiking...but not a fedora) and the gal at the counter made a surprised remark about my not wearing a wide brimmed hat. Kind of surprised me, as I don't go in there all that often and I would figure people would fail to recognize me without a hat!

I wear a hat every day I don't work. A fedora or wool driving cap in the winter and a straw hat or light weight driving cap in the summer. I don't wear a hat to work so I don't have to worry about hat head, though if I go out in the evening I'll put a hat on.

I do not wear a hat while driving, most of the time. I almost always remove my hat when I walk into a building. Dad always taught us to do that. However this exchange from "The Philadelphia Story" helped...
MacCauly Connor: So what can you tell us about this Tracy Samantha Lord? What are her leading characteristics?
CKDexter Haven: She has a horror of men who wear their hats in the house.

Now how could I ever disappoint Tracy?

Not always a "fedora" but since about 1959 I have NOT gone hatless. Mabe a ball cap, mabe a tweed cap, western and fedoras all in the mix. Was a break for about 18 mo's when I went hatless back in 69/70 and wore a steel lid daily, but except for that, there's been a hat on my head when I go outside almost daily :)

By "steel lid," do you perhaps also mean a "steel pot," as we used to call helmets?...

Ever since I started wearing a hat last year, I've fond that I've been wearing a hat very regularly. I now almost never leave the house without one. It's great for keeping my hair in place.

Every day. Each hat/cap made by myself, therefore they fit, are comfortable and fit the requirements.

For day to day outside work: various flatcaps

For casual socialising: berrets

For whining and dining or theatre: more 'sophisticated' hats, usually with feathers. (being in the countryside, its easy to get hold of the odd pheasant, for food and deco ;) )

Maybe I post them one day if I get a chance to photograph them all.

I feel 'naked' without a hat. Besides, they are handy to hide a bad hair day :D

I wear a hat every day (If I go outside). I have done since I was about 20 years old. It's usually a flat cap of some variety, unless it's very cold, in which case I will wear either my Russian fur Ushanka or my wool lined faux pilot cap. If I go somewhere snazzy I will wear a fedora. I feel half-dressed without a hat.

It's rare for me to go hatless once the temp drops below 50°F or so. But as the temps grow warmer I'm less likely to wear a hat;maybe half the time, depending on the amount of sun I need to deal with.

I saw those photos Edward, nice costumes all around.

I consider it a compliment when people comment "You always have a hat on."

And my work requires that if I am outside, I shall have a hat. Today I realized coming to work that I had left my uniform hat in the office, so I walked from the car to the door, and I felt so oddly vulnerable! Every... Single... Day a hat is on my head!
